JWs unrecognisable compared to my grandfathers time

my grandfather who has been dead for 37 years would not recognise the borganisation today.

he would turn in his grave if he knew the end didn’t come by 2023.. back in the 1970s he really believed in the 75 thing.

he was so disappointed and almost blamed everyone else why the end didn’t come.

here we are 2023 and the next generation has grown up propagating old ideas from men who have all died already..

How very true that is - and the current jw's defend these out of date doctrines so aggressively!!🤷‍♂️

Observation

haven't been to a meeting in 13 years.

family that lives 1300 miles away doesn't know.

just visited them and here is what i observed.

When my Mum says she 'really enjoyed the last meeting' to shame me, I ask her what bible scripture in the meeting impressed her the most.

Her eyes then glaze over, she becomes aggressive and then accuses me of talking like an apostate!!!!🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Guaranteed way not to get disfellowshipped

if it’s looking like someone may be disfellowshiped or announced they are no longer a jw and they don’t want to be shunned they just want to fade without being shunned - just say that would make me suicidal .

in the new shepherding book it says if they say that then don’t go ahead with it.

I hate the way the jw's question faders like the gestapo when they bump into them.

They seem to think they have a god given right to ask intrusive, personal questions to you whilst you are in the checkout surrounded by other shoppers.

I blanked the last guy who did this and his face became contorted with rage when he realised he had no power - what a tosser!

...many have observed that JWs used to convert ordinary people to the religion back in the day. Now, apart from people born into the religion, it’s mostly societal misfits or people with severe psychological hardships who come into the congregation.
