I heard two elders talking about 'present truth' and 'current truth' - how I hate those jw expressions!

Revising History
by no-zombie inwhile i'm aware of wt books being revised without noting the differences on newer editions (the truth book is a classic example of this) ... is there evidence of the writing committee revising the online versions of wt articles, as compared to the printed editions?.
if there is a previous thread on this topic, just link it ... as these is no need to reinvent the wheel.. thanks.

by ukpimo inrealistically, between now and 2034, what do you think watchtower will change or reform to appear more mainstream?
what business opportunities do you see watchtower getting involved in?.

Extreme at odds ever since pandemic ...
by Palegreen79 inmarch 3-9 theocratic school material is something else.. i fully get that there are 2 major sides of thinking regarding that topic.
but really from their own lying mouths it was a personal decision that should have been respected.
this was not reality.

What is Your Favorite WT Lie?
by Sea Breeze ini would like to start a thread on lies that the watchtower and their reps have told.
surely we all have one or two that truly sticks out in our memories, no matter how much we would like to forget.
my favorite wt lie: the reason they don't want to release the name of the "scholars" who worked on the new world translation is because they do not want to accept "glory and honor" from others.

Householder: 'Are you telling me that if I don't become a JW I will be destroyed by God?
JW: 'No, of course not!'

' 1935 is the cut off year for collecting the anointed.'
Years later:
'It would seem that 1935 is NOT the cut off year for the calling of the anointed.'

Loss of a Jehovah’s Witness who I considered a friend
by Fallen_Winter ini have known a jehovah’s witness for approximately 15 years and i have considered her a friend although i know that jehovah’s witnesses cannot have friends who are not jehovah’s witnesses.
approximately two years ago, i was going through a very difficult time and i asked my friend if we could have bible study.
she said yes and we have been studying the bible since.

The JW leadership blows so hot and cold.
One CO came round years ago and told us to ditch all our cosy mag routes, people who just wanted the Awake and a nice chat and gave us a cuppa -
Reason given was that it was an urgent life saving message we were delivering and needed to weed out these 'nice householders who were not making proper spiritual progress'...
Few years later, totally opposite advice, make friends of our RV's , don't pressure them, Jesus wants all to be saved, call back on even those who just took a tract but showed very little interest..
As a pioneer I suddenly realised ALL this advice was a total load of shite, purely designed to keep us all on our toes and busy and blinkered on the ministry!!!

Your Rebellion = Watchtower Oxymoron.
by Englishman inif you are an ex-witness, regardless of the reasons that you left, did you also rebel against your creator as well as the wtbts?
or did you just feel that jw`s didn`t have the truth, but that you were quite happy to go on believing in god, albeit accepting that your idea of god was now somewhat different?.
according to the watchtower, by leaving the jw`s, you have rebeled directly against god.

neyank:
According toFunk and Wagnalls Dictionary, apostasy:Desertion of ones faith, religion, party or principles.
Or simply to go against what one formerly believed.
The word apostate also can be used with other orginizations besides religion.
Whether they be political or scholastic orginizations.
So keeping the definition in mind, all JWs that were once members of another religion and have left it to become Jehovahs Witnesses can rightly be called APOSTATES.
On page 36, In the book Reasoning from the Scriptures,it asks the question, Would faithful Christians welcome apostates into their presence, either personally or by reading their litterature?
Interesting question because anyone that is allowing Jehovahs Witnesses that were once part of another religion into their home for a study is associating and learning from apostates.Great post - I'm going to use this on the jw's I speak to in the future!
