true, the knowledge book left out any explanation of earthquakes being part of the sign, but this awake article seams to be a major departure from previous explanations.

are u a better person by leaving the borg.... if so how so.
what's the single biggest.
self-improvement/change you've made.... that leaving was a catalyst for?
These are great comments.
It's still fairly "fresh" for me...but...
much like each of you...
so far...I'm feeling much better off.
I can honestly say that nothing in my life
got 'worse' from leaving. Everything improved.
Everything! I have to admit that I
initially worried that life would get worse...
but i guess that's just what years&years of conditioning
will do to a person.
I now feel like a better, more sane, well-rounded person.
My life has opened up and become really enjoyable.
I am more optimistic about the future...and this is perhaps the most surprising change...i used to think "what could be more optimistic than paradise?" now i think....well, much differently.
The best thing for me so far, has been
getting the most out of each and every day.
Here and now.
Really living.
For the first time ever.
Wahoo!

when i was a teenager, i got into heavy metal music in a big, big way.
black sabbath, iron maiden, and metallica were my faves, especially metallica.
i lived on their music, listening to their albums literally hundreds of times, often while under the influence of mood-altering substances.
dantheman,
yep that was a good read.
The line that really summed it up from that article:
Such fear adversely influences plans for marriage, college, careers, and the pursuit of happiness. It robs one's peace of mind and destroys one's quality of life.I couldn'ta said it better. Too true! Ain't it great to be freeeeee!?

my dog died today.... and i am very sad.
i got him as a 7 week old puppy 11 years ago and i loved him dearly.. i brought him to the vet.
to be put to sleep, that was so hard, but he had diabetes, had lost at least 25 pounds in the last 3 months, drank gallons and gallons of water, woke me up 2 or 3 times during the night to go out, could barely walk anymore, and he was blind...
Awwwwwww....
I'm sorry.

Great Post dantheman
i especially appreciated this comment:
The WT, with their endless Armageddon talk, is virtually identical in methodology to fundy preachers who use hellfire to scare people into their rigid way of life and keep them there in small-minded misery. Can't help but agree...never really saw that parallel for what it is.
What a RELIEF to be finished with all that misery!
Now I'm FREEEEEEEEE to LOVE LIFE rather than fear death!

we are always pointing out the flaws of the jw religion.
does this make us intolerant of the religious beliefs of others?
where do you draw the line?.
Personally, I don't much like "religion" of any sort at this point in my life.
That said, I am totally PRO-CHOICE on the spirituality issue.
I am one that demands the right/freedom to choose.
To exercise my "free will". And I have always been one to tolerate...actually respect...others' choices in this matter.
I might be suspect of individuals motives in some instances that hurt others...but for the most part, it's their life.
I really wouldn't presume to judge. Even when i wuz a dub I really believed that it was God's job to judge.
Not mine.
