ok, just catching a little snippet of matt lauer's interview of madonna right now.

a few things come to mind.drop the fake ass british accentamerica is not interested in a "spiritual" pop starkaballah is just another religion, regardless of your argument that it is not.

First I agree that she is not the best actress with the exception of Desperately Seeking Susan (I Haven't seen Evita yet) and I thought her performance on Will and Grace was just awful.

But I find it funnie that when someone is a success (and yes she is a succes many times over) people tend to be more if not overly ciritical.

Someone made the statement about her wanting to protect her daughter. Well if it was reversed then all you would be doing is saying what a bad parent she is. You can't have it both ways. All your statement shows is that she is doing her best to be the best parent she can. Why is that so wrong. So her values have changed over the years...big deal that happens to everyone.

I give Madonna much credit for being able to reinvent herself in so many ways. It shows not only that she has no problem with change and moves ahead with the times but also that she is extremely creative.

For all those that think she's a "dumbass" I'd like to see you do what she does even for a day.

We for some reason when it comes to celebrities forget that they are people just like us that change and grow. Why is she not allowed to do so?

hi everyone, this is my first post.. i have come to this site for almost 2 months but have been too scared to post... don't really know what i'm scared of but i even set up a different hotmail account when i registered... anyway, i'm a 19/f who was raised a jw (baptised a year ago).

i was homeschooled, and basically had no communication with the "world" even though my father is an unbeliever.

my parents were divorced last year (unscriptual divorce from my jw mother).. and now i'm living with my dad and have not spoken to my mom, not because i have doubts about the truth (she doesn't know) but because she was a hypocrit and liar through the divorce.

i have safley returned from my adventures across the ocean and happened to stumble and meet the german district overbier, german jw!!!

what a pleasure it was to see him enjoying a beer as i entered the room, i could not help but join him in the ritual.

First off-----welcome to the board. Glad to have you here.

I stopped attending meetings when I was 17. Unlike you I was allowed to go to public school so I think that helped in many ways. I was allowed to build up "worldly" friendships.

My advice to you is to find a few things you like to do and then go to places where you can do those. Even go by yourself (I have done that many times and usually wound up talking to someone interesting)

Do you like sports? Then get involved in a local gym or sports activity.

Are you into acting/theatre? Then maybe try a local community theatre. Even if its for behind the scene work you will get some socialization.

Or even try a coffe shop. Take a book etc and just sit and relax. If you see someone that looks interesting just introduce yourself. I have found that most people will be friendly with you if you approach in a sincere manner. Maybe someone will even come up to you (If your book title catches their eye)

My other suggestion if you feel comfortable with telling us what general area you live (what country or if in the US--what state) because there might be some on the board that live near you that can be of support and good company. Lookout for the "Apostofest" as they usually generate a crowd of people that can sympathize with your issues.

You should never regret being able to live your life. Think of this as a self discovery. Do your own research and follow your heart. I won't lie to you...its been 9 years for me and I am still learning socially appropiate behavior..so its going to be a long road and not very easy but the reward of thinking for yourself is priceless.

Its women like that that turn nice guys into something else...

I would say...she is playing you to a degree whether intentional or not...and it is affecting you...

I would ask if you love her but I think that you probably do in order to go through all that and still want things to work out. The bigger question is does she love you? As JW's are not taught to love really...only conditional love.

Ask yourself do you really want to be with someone who doesn't love you enough to take her chances on you and let the chips fall as they will. She has lied, killed and manipuated you for her own purposes. Maybe she is confused...but you seem like you are worth more than that.

As far as the wat the Elders in her Cong would handle any of this....that would probably be determined on how much of a harda$$ they are andif they're i a good mood or not. It could go either way. And as far as her not getting DF'd the first time then she must have shown enough repentance to squeeze by.

btw---what part of FL are you moving to?

i am currently having a situation where "friends" of mine and i are at odds over a situation that is not relevant to post about and i don't really feel it neccessary to go into detail about.

they made a statement that it is not their intention for it to come between friends.

Moe--the reason you dont follow is because you are trying to figure out who I am talking about and thats not the point of the post, not to mention you don't have any details to make even an informed assumption.

BTW---being "friendly" does not equate to "friendship". I am friendly with anyone I have contact with. I am friendly with the phone calls I take, with the fast food window etc but of coarse I would never consider them friends.

francois--you make some iteresting points. I guess the only thing we really were was "friendly aquantances" and hopefully things will work out to where that can stay the same.

real and true friends are not easy to come by but I am lucky to count a few (all on one hand)

For me it is always about quality over quantity anyday.

Are dubs sicker than average?

my mom is always complaining of something or another every week.

she is not that old and is in fairly good health.

she eats good and gets moderate exercise but she always has something wrong with her.. do you think that dubs get sicker than normal people cause of stress or maybe their body just overwhelmed with all the requirements finally says ok...if it takes you being sick to rest then you'll be sick?.

fortuantely my mom hasnt shared her stool descriptions with me..but I do hear about the rash on her head and feet etc...and how she seems to be allergic to everything under the sun (msg, yellow food coloring etc..you name it)

and after she determines she is sick...she has to self-diagnose and then treat with herbal/vitamin/homeopathic remedies.....is that a dub thing too??
