What part of the bible is most disturbing to you?
by crownboy infor me, it's actually the book of job, which happens to be one of my favourite books.
the way job steadfastly maintains his innocence, and questions god, as well as rebuffs the three comforters (who proffer arguments along the lines of mordern apologist, although in this book they are "bad guys" ) made him my hero of sorts throughout most of the book.
if most people today questioned god the way he did, they would probably be condemned for it.

What's going on with the eighth picture down? The one with the suits and the barred gates? If I'm not mistaken, that's a Mastercard moment... priceless. Please, who can tell us what's going on in that picture?

Oh Lady Lee,
They looked so sad, those poor little lambs left at all of those cold steel doors. It agree that it seems almost cruel to leave them in the hands of the JWs, but better them than our sweet lambs who have suffered so much already. We are so fortunate to have so many strong survivors in our midst.
Thank you for the pictures.

I have talked about this before, but the account of Abraham sacrificing Isaac is terrible. I could never show that page in the Bible Stories Book to my children. (they eventually saw it) Horrible account. What parent could read that to their child? And..........I was a TRUE believer. That one always hurt me too much.
I didn't like that one, and the one about Jepthah's daughter I liked even less. There the poor girl really does get sacrificed, although in the WTBTS watered down version she only has to serve God as some sort of temple priestess for the rest of her natural life.
That really bothered me.

I'm not a JW, but i've got some questions.
by iamtaylormh ini'm not a jehovahs witness...i dont know what i am.
when i was younger and my parents were divorced, i celibrated different religions with each family, attending many differnet churches, from methodist, to catholic, to christian and so on.
as a result, i was unable to seperate the beliefs of each religion and not really understand what i believed in and where i belonged.

Dear Taylor,
jehovas-witness.com : an anti JW community. hmm. perhaps i should try antijehovas-witness.com then
Yeah, it gets confusing, doesn't it?
I think the best way to keep it straight is to remember that the Apostates JWs or ex-Jehovah's Witnesses are witnesses to the corruption of Jehovah's organization. Many of them were witnesses to their own sexual abuse as children. They courageously speak out to the media in marches and demonstrations like the one that took place in Brooklyn today.
We expect that the people who claim to be Jehovah's Witnesses will soon be changing their name to Jehovah's Bystanders because they just stand around waiting for Jehovah to take care of things in his own due time.

Welcome XBE!
That 2 witness rule does not apply in cases of child molestation period! Under that circumstance, love for the victim should overide what the scripture states just as Jesus eased up while the pharisees would not under certain circumstances. I thought how disgusting that Elders would chose to ignore and send home victims to abusive households because the child was the only witness. The society has recently changed policy so that if more than one victim of a accused molester comes forward, even though they are still the only witnesses to the act of their own molestation, then they can proceed with a judicial hearing. But how does this help if no one else comes forward? Still flawed. As you can see I am deeply disturbed by this issue.
That is well reasoned. The elders are just following the rules laid down (mostly verbally, so there is no record) by the Society. But there are elders who do question the process. They are some of our lamb's best supporters and a good many of them will be at the march tomorrow. These are men who are as deeply disturbed by this whole mess as you are. It would never have happened if the Society wasn't more concerned about process and procedure than about the love and compassion that Jesus showed.
As for your question, Do You Believe Any of "The Truth"?, I can say that I believe in the ideals of love based on principal that Jesus taught. I think the Society followed many of those ideals many many years ago. I remember as a child it was a much different time then. It was still dysfunctional, but it didn't have the mean and cruel spirit it has now. Now it "feels" more like a big faceless box, run as a corporation by lawyers and business moguls, than the family it used to be. Maybe that is partly because I was younger then and shielded from a lot more. Others I have talked to have noticed that the Society has drastically changed around the 1970s, however, so maybe it isn't just me.
Anyway, welcome and hope you find what you need here.
