Damn!
Nobody home. This could be their meeting night. I'll try again later, but at least I tried.

years ago, i had a pet-hate bible story, and it was this one story that actually started me on the path to freedom from the borg-org.. it was the story of lot when he was living in sodom and the 2 angels visited (dressed like men of course).
and the crowd of sodomites were yelling "send out the visitors so we can bonk them senseless".
remember?.
I have two most hated stories.
The story of Jepthah's daughter bothered me. Poor girl never got any!
The other story was the Ethiopian eunuch. Why did Apostle Philip go to all the trouble of baptizing him when the Apostle Paul turns around and supposedly bans queer people? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Last week there was an F3 tornado that occurred in the vicinity of my brother's home in Bloomington, Indiana. All weekend long and for the first part of this week I have waited to see if anyone would call and let me know they are okay. Last month my 18 year old niece died in a car accident in Bloomington. Someone from the family did call me about that.
The tornado touched down in Ellettsville according to the newspaper, and it traveled northeast through Martinsville, Indianapolis, and Anderson, where it dispersed. My brother's house is halfway between Bloomington and Ellettsville. There were no reported deaths. The odds are that they are okay, but the newspaper didn't say exactly which 60 homes and buildings were destroyed.
They haven't called me, but do you think it is okay for me to call them and see if they are okay? Wouldn't it be an appropriate way to show my concern? I don't want to offend them by calling too soon after their duaghter died, but somehow a tornado seems like it could be construed as family business, don't you think? I'm still a bit emotional on this subject since it is so close to my nieces death, so I value your cooler heads and your detached perspective on this.
Thanks in advance.

i'm not sure how to put this news gently to the community here, but regarding my post yesterday regarding chantelle.. thankyou for all of your kind messages and warmth displayed on your parts.. chantelle was only 16 when disfellowshipped.
only 18 years old with her whole life in front of her.
she took her own life this morning at 0400hrs.. i am so sorry not to have been in a better position to get your letters to her in time.. take care all of you & kindest regards.
Wow! This is really sad news. I'm so sorry for her friends and family, even her JW family. It is a very deep despair and a very deep pain that caused her to seek relief in this manner. I can understand it, but I grieve for her and am saddened that she saw this as her only way out.
There are many of us out there who feel like this at times, maybe even most of the time. There is hope, however, and relief can come in better forms than just a quick permanent end. They take work and effort, but they are worth it. For the others of us out there who feel this deep despair, remember that there are other remedies, there are other therapies, and there are many many folks who have been through the same thing and care very much.

"do you think that the prayers of religious leaders or anyone else can bring about world peace?
this is a suggested presentation from the october issue of kingdom ministry.
as is usual for the wts publications, this question distorts the real story!
I'll try to remember that point if they show up at my house, but I will probably be too stunned to say anything since they haven't talked to me in almost 9 years.

Welcome Chachasmum!
the former elder i posted about last week, (see this page http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=36893&site=3) has been doing research in the elder book, which he still has, and wt's apparently trying to understand why the elders took away his privileges because he allowed his wife to associate with inactive witnesses, rumored to be apostates.
he, himself, is always very kind to them, and welcomes the wife to their home when she comes by.
his wife found a stack of papers on his desk, and showed them to me, where he had highlighted and underlined, and added stars to many segments of the printed materials.
LOL! Good 4 U Ven!
That was pretty much a given, Minimus.
we have heard of different celebrities having ties with the watchtower.
some are rumours, others seem to be true.. i was wondering who out there has heard that a celebrity was involved in the watchtower, and does anyone have any personal knowledge or experiences regarding this?.
here is my list of what i have heard at one time or another:.
PC Game guru Warren Schwader of Sierra On-line. He wrote most of their Hoyle Games and also was involved in "You Don't Know Jack."
