More things the JW kids are missing out on.
by Dawn inmany of you already know that i started going to a new church 2 years ago.
it's very focused on kids and has lots of activities for them.. this year they started up an additional program for the grade school age - it's open to everyone from the public.
every wednesday night from 6:30-8:30pm they meet at the church for a sort of "camp" - they're learning some songs & dances to perform for the church, they do crafts, play bible games, and learn a new bible verse each week.. i decided to sign up as a helper.

Yes, but those churches are spoiling their kids! Kids don't really appreciate a book of Bible Stories or a Great Teacher book unless they have to wait 10-15 years for it. If you want to want to keep their attention, what you really need to do is make them sit in those meetings for hours and hours, and threaten them with the rod of discipline if they fidgit. That gets their attention, believe me. Then you really look forward to the assemblies because you can get a pudding once in a while!

Cheryl,
If I can be of any help to you, just let me know. Depression and me are old friends and go way back. It moved in years ago and I have learned to live with it, since there is no good way to permanently evict it. Now it comes and goes like an annoying roomate, but I don't let it bother me as much anymore. Good meds and therapy help a lot.
Hope to see you again at the next MEET-UP!
Love,
Tammy

Venice,
The term "controlled chaos" also comes to mind. There's always something going on there, isn't there?

NAMING NAMES!
by happysunshine inhas anyone ever started a section just for legal cases/ possible legal cases?
or how about naming all the corrupt/ horror story jws you ever knew?
is it possible to get sued for telling your experiences and naming names - even if its not about criminal activity?
-
Swan
The trouble with naming names is that they might become apostates someday. Surely you wouldn't want to name names, have them come here, see their name, and be stumbled by it, would you? What an unloving thing to have happen to our fellow apostates. They may slip back into the cult.

Thanks Tink. I was very angry with them for many years, but I never stopped loving them. I do worry about them and am just glad the rest of them are safe.
They have each other through this time of grief, so I am all alone with it except for you folks, my husband, and my co-workers. Everyone has been very supportive. Thanks!

I found out that they are okay. In their own dysfunctional and disorganized way they didn't even realize that it was me. The twister missed them.
Whew!

2 Dead, 3 Missing in Texas Boating Accident
by Funchback inquestions to consider after reading the article:.
since the jws claim to adhere strictly to bible guidelines and they make certain rules or interpretations of the scriptures, should the survivors who were baptized face a judicial committee for putting their lives and the lives of others at risk?
after all, they got on a boat that basically was being operated illegally (too many passengers and not enough life jackets).
-
Swan
Wouldn't it have been safer to jump out of an airplane with two people per parachute than have 10 people in a 16 foot boat with 2 life preservers?
What a senseless loss of life.
Tammy (shaking her head sadly)
Edited to correct the number of people and length of boat

'Prepare for Banning' A HOAX! READ INSIDE
by ashitaka inmy friend called me last night and said that his mother heard a letter read on monday night at her congregation meeting that said that the rank and file should be prepared to be banned, to go underground, and persecution is coming soon, that halls would be taken, and such.
that these things are definitely coming soon.
could this be the spin that the wt is heading towards.....instead of facing the hard issues, make the issues the boogeyman and shut down the halls, giving the elders ultimate power?
