personnally, i thing that the movie "the matrix" and the movie "the truman show" really describe my experience in the wbts.
when i discovered the truth about the "truth", my perception of the reality became really different.
all that i have been taught was just a big lie.
There were also a lot of parallels with the movie Fahrenheit 451 which was based on a science fiction classic by Ray Bradbury. All books were banned and the firemen went around on calls hunting for caches of books, which they promptly burned. But then this one fireman started to question things and began reading a book. So it was an a very interesting analogy to someone becoming an apostate.

i just took a look at h2o, which of course was the pioneering internet jw discussion board.
at one time, it was the place.
then this site came along, and nowadays people on h2o are debating whether there is any point in the continued existence of that site:.

I agree Dutchie! This is an exciting time! I have waited 8 long years to see this start to happen, longer if you count the time I was a questioning Dub. They have been through rough times before, but this is a different generation facing this crisis, and it is a crisis of their own doing. Nothing like this has happened before. This is the first time in history I have seen a march like this before the doors of Brooklyn Bethel. This is the first time in history anyone has made a public accusation of child abuse and the cover up of the same by members of the GB. This is the first time in history rank and file have joined with apostates to ask for an end to this abuse. This is the first time in recent history that there has been a marked decrease of publishers in well educated countries such as Japan, United States, and Great Britian. This is the first time in history, thanks to the information age, that apostates have been able to effectively organize and get their message out.
It's been a wild ride so far and it's just starting! I'm excited!

since i have found this forum i have been doing a lot of online looking, particularily spying on what the dubs have to say about all the negative attention they have been getting in the news of late and through the internet in forums such as this.
i did a quick search on msn communites and came across over 70 online jw communities.
one particular posting on one community (#1 rated jw community on msn if anyone desires to look it up) i read a message thread on depression.

I got another email from Timo which I deleted, as I told him I would. If he wants to talk to me, he will have to do it here. I won't be harrassed by his rude attitude by private email again. I think he is a troll, and I make it a point not to talk to trolls. It only encourages them and makes them more obnoxious.

I'm so sorry! And yes, it does hurt; it hurts a lot! That's why they do it. It's a very cruel and unusual punishment. I'm so sorry that you haven't any family left. It really hurts when you lose them all. Words can't describe the feelings that come with it.

i was raised in the truth, and until the age of 18, very active(although never baptized).
i stopped going to meetings and out in service when i came to terms with being a lesbian.
i just felt like i was wasn't being true.
