Another lawsuit... this one in Oregon.
by Elsewhere incomplaint: negligence, breach of confidential relationship, intentional infliction of severe emotional distress.
once again the elders appointed a convicted and confessed child molester to a position of responsibility as an officer and ministerial servant of the congregation.
this time the accused name is jerry anderson crabb of the lancaster congregation of jehovah's witnesses - 4795 macleay road se, salem, or 97301. sadly, as one would expect, he has been accused of sexually abusing a child on multiple occasions.

Oh dear. That is a bigger problem.
You are wise to set boundaries as to Gracie's intrusions. It is also wise not to try to compete with her, as that would be unhealthy for you as well as them. Perhaps Lynda will see that.
Do the new benefits from that new job include therapy, by any chance? I think Lynda could benefit from some real counseling sessions to help unravel the damage her religion has caused.

I know there are others on this board with far greater problems than I.
Maybe, but your problems are pretty big too!
I'm so sorry you and Lynda and Gracie are going through this. It is not easy to leave a religious cult, and those on the outside often feel powerless in helping their loved ones go through this process. Patience and willingness to listen are one of the best things you can do right now.
I don't understand the part about competing with Gracie, though. Why do you feel that you would be competing?

Be A Friend!
Most JWs are starved for friends! We have few people in the JW congregation who show genuine friendship.
When I was a Witness I had no true friends. I did when I was teen, but friends you have as a teenager seem to be different. As an adult, there was no one in the JWs I could call my close friend. Nobody really knew me. You always had to be guarded in what you said around them.
I had a "worldly" friend at work who became a true friend. We talked about many issues, but he was always a friend. He was patient and listened. He asked questions. He was respectful of my beliefs while asserting his own. I was allowed to see that people can have differing opinions and still be friends. He accepted me for who I was without judgment, but would occasionally question my beliefs and get me to think. He treated me like a person.
I think being a true friend and showing them true friendship transcends differing beliefs is an important facet of de-indoctrination. If you give them a safe environment to let them question their own beliefs, I believe they will. I did.

If you do have sex, please practice safe sex. Nobody needs to know about your sex life unless you or your boyfriend tell them. So just keep your private sex life private. If your family gives you a hard time about having a worldly boyfriend, just tell them lots of people in the Bible had worldly friends/mates (Solomon, Ruth, Esther, Samson, etc.), and they had just as many problems as the people who were married in the faith (Job, Lot, Adam, David, etc.). Tell them you'll take your chances and accept the consequences like an adult. If the elders give you a hard time, remind them you haven't been dunked and tell them to mind their own business.

We have to remember that children are notorius liars and not the saints that Childrens Welfare try to make them out as and would never lie.
That sounds like something Judge Rutherford would say. Tammy

DC, all but gave directions to the JWD site
by ocsrf in.
i found the dc very interesting this year do to my reading of this site.
i took note that the danger of the internet was menitioned no less than three times, once with a demonstration showing a brother who found a site by a innocent search of the web on a jw subject to the very last talk, concluding remarks and final "resolution" that consisted of 10 items with number 10 staying away from dangerous sites and chat rooms.. makes you wonder what the real story is behind that much attention being given to this problem iof theirs.. oc

Yes, they actually did show a brother with his lap top and showed him going threw the motions that led him up to the site with questionable apostate material.
Darn! Then we aren't doing it right. There should be no question that it is apostate material.Tammy
