strategy games online?

there are a few pc strategy games that i've had for awhile, and pretty much played out, but i've never played anything over the internet against real opposition!

You can try Starfleet Command 2. This doesn't deal to much with "resource" gathering, but more of tactical and ship management. Warcraft 3 just came out, and that deals with more in what you find entertaining( like Starcraft )...and is an EXCELLENT, FUN game...both single and multiplayer.

Funny you mentioned SFC; just after I posted, I said 'f*k it' & went out & bought SFC I (only cost me 5 bucks, hehehe)... Looks very cool. I am still working my way through the manual (don't make fun; I admit I am a manual freak

LOL... another one I'm dying for is Master of Orion 3... September 25th, AAAAAARGH. I've never tried any of the Star Wars line of games; don't know why, but the scenes on the package didn't really do it for me. In contrast, the "teasers" for other Star Trek games in SFC looked SUPERcool... Anyone tried "New Worlds" or "Klingon Academy"?

My Story

i guess it's time for me to tell my story on this forum.

my parents came into contact with the "truth" during their engagement and so i was born into a borg family and quickly "assimilated.

" the congregation i grew up in however had very liberal views on many subjects, such as higher education, secular careers, and the like.

Mackin, glad I read your story; nice to meet you... I was in Brooklyn bethel for 3 years, & I have to say I agree with what you've said. I was only 19 when I was accepted there, so was never an elder, but 'by their fruits you shall know them' and all that; I saw enough that the seeds were sown. I was ready to leave it all. One of the kindest, best people I ever met in that dysfunctional borg was an elder at bethel - but not a "Bethel Elder," mind you. Personality issues, politics, & the like kept him from ever being put in that position, even though he was the most sincere, knowledgable, loving JW that I ever met. In fact, after I confessed a couple of "secret sins" to the Bethel Elder in charge of my department (waiter crew), I was still allowed to be there for about a week, as I wasn't perceived as any threat to the "family." I spent that week, to a great extent, hanging around with that one bro, talking, clearing my emotional headspace, etc... only to have the overseer of my department come to me THE DAY BEFORE I LEFT BETHEL and warn me against associating with him. He couldn't quote specifics, of course, but did his level best to imply that this particular ELDER was bad association. Despite the fact that I knew better, and despite the fact that I was moving back home, about 1000 miles away from this person and bethel.

Add this to the fact that I learned how to get drunk at bethel (with the help of several brethren), and that some nights I had trouble sleeping due to the loud fighting going on between a bethelite couple in the room next door, and that one of my close friends & workmates tried to commit suicide while he was there... It goes on and on. I'm glad you're out, Mackin; I wish neither of us had ever been in.

Does being called an 'apostate' upset you?

do all of you ex-jehovah's witnesses get upset when you are called an apostate?

you all call each other apostates, so why should you all get upset if i call you apostates?

if you don't like being called 'apostate', what title would you prefer?

Personally, I love the word. It is the antithesis of everything I was taught to be as a child, and since I hate what I was taught to be as a child, well...

Being called an apostate by another apostate makes me smile. Being called an apostate by a JW gives me a warm feeling all over. And being called an apostate by You Know makes me LMFAO.

What makes Jesus so special?

i've been wondering, what makes jesus so different from the rest of creation that he is granted the title "son of god".

if there was nothing before jehovah, all things are his creation and therefore should be on equal footing.

for jesus to truly be his son, jehovah, would have had to have created a goddess to copulate with, thereby creating a proper male/female relationship from which to form an offspring.

Good question. One wonders why, to a timeless God, the "firstborn of creation" would have any special significance.

Starcraft

The first 2 are the ones I'd be most interested in; I know that all these games are on the old side, but it seems so hard to find truly addictive, detailed, non-boring strategy sims.

Also, if anyone could recommend a more recent strategy game along these lines, I'd very much appreciate it... I'm not so much interested in stuff like WWII sims & so on... The way I see it, if it can happen in the "real" world today, it's not too interesting as a game.

zork i-iii ---a heck, any infocom game from the late 70's to early 80's (oh those days of text adventures, and they kept me up all night).

Hmmmm... LOL... I know this thread is probly dead, but maybe you'll see this:

the solution to the echo room was really stupid. all you had to do was type "echo." the game would respond "echo echo," and then the room became a normal room! sad, sad, sad.

LOL... all those beams & catwalks & ramps & cables & speaker systems fascinated me, too... I used to be an avid reader of Spider-Man, so I would look around & daydream about Spidey web-swinging from all these features, from one area of the convention center to another, having some heroic battle against the Green Goblin or some such! This activity was only broken up by such things as artistic inspiration (read: doodling), dramas (damn, the lights went out, now what do I do?), or the blessed occasions when a bird or 2 would get stuck in the center somehow and noisily fly around the ceiling (let's see the attendants do something about THAT

Ideas for merchandise

i think i mentioned this some time ago but never had time to do anything about it.

i'm thinking of offering merchandise on the site for a bit of fun and also to help with the site expenses (although i don't expect it to generate a huge amount).

i think catchy logo's and phrases are the best.
