How Many Pagans?

i was curious to see how many pagans were on the board and what form you practiced.

i myself am newer to the pagan scene and am studying witchcraft...something i secretly did when i was a teenage jw.

I'm a pagan, tho I really doubt I'll ever be in any organized religion again, pagan or otherwise. I'm one of those eclectic types who reads a lot & decides for himself what is "true." But I don't believe in final truth - if there is a Final truth, I think it is unknowable, since the author of it has kindly given us no choice but to make it up as we go along ;)

SpiceItUp & I were joking the other day about being agnostic pagans; that sounds about right. Probably the one and only belief I hold that I'd never back away from is that your belief creates your reality, that thought changes the world. Though I do have "beliefs," they're mostly more like catalysts, beliefs that I hold onto because I think they change my world in a favorable way.

One of my favorite pagan subjects is Hawaiian Shamanism, sometimes called Huna these days... Serge Kahili King has written some very good books on the subject.

What would "firstborn from the dead" in Col. 1:18 mean? Does this mean that Jesus was the first to be brought back to life from the dead? Apparently not, as Elijah raised a child back to life in 1 Kings 17:21-23 And Jesus himself raised Lazarus (John 11:43) How, then, was Jesus the "firstborn from the dead"?

apparently, that child and Lazarus were only "mostly dead," and therefore didn't count.

Deprogramming

as you can see by my name "perfection seeker" i was a witness.

i am now leaving, and not a perfection seeker :-) does anyone have information on exit counseling or deprogramming?

Seeker, you've made the most important step already, I think: Making contact with others who have left! It was 7 or 8 years after I left the borg, just last month or so, that I found this site. I always wanted to distance myself from that past before, never sought out anything like this til now. And all of a sudden a great weight has lifted off my shoulders. If I'd found this site, or something like it, immediately after I'd left, I'd be a completely different person today. I spent those years shuddering every time I read "peace & security," or some variation of it, in the newspaper... Feeling a bit creepy when I read about other religions or spiritual practices. Expecting demons to jump me. And so on! Now, I feel the deprogramming process is easiest when you've got others like you to listen to & talk to. I made lots of progress during those 7 or 8 years, on my own, but as I feel better & better over this past month, I sure as hell wish I'd gotten here sooner

Keep reading, questioning & commenting! You're doing exactly what you need to do, IMO.

By the way, the person who posted the 65 questions on the Internet made it a point to use the NWT in his line of questioning, since the questions posed used the NWT certainly no one can find fault with me for using the NWT in my answering. / You Know

The fact is that none of these questions were even particularly good ones. How can you, in good conscience, collect Field Service Hours (TM - collect them for valuable prizes such as eternal life!) for debating this crud? There were a few good questions in the 1st thread, but as has been pointed out, you conveniently didn't see the posts that ripped your answers to shreds. Example:

Professor-To observe the "spirit" of God's law regarding blood would mean not to eat it. Although there is still some blood in all meat that we consume, the Jews knew what was meant by this law, and that was largely to eat of only properly bled meat.

When Jesus invited the apostles to symbolically drink his blood because it meant life, this idea did not contradict the "spirit" of God's law, although some took it that way. In this action, Christ established an example of how blood can acceptably be used as a means of sustaining life. Clearly, Jehovah's Witnesses are taking "abstain from blood" out of context in their decision to deny themselves and their children access to proper medical treatment. Using this same reasoning, we would also not be permitted to accept salvation through the ransom sacrifice because we would be forced to abstain from Jesus' life-giving blood.

I am sure the person who posed those questions thought they knew something too, but why can't anyone defend what has been arrayed against us? That's why people debate ideas and use reason to try and think things throught so as arrive at the truth. But, obviously there are many evil-inclined individuals who have no interest in truth or spirituality and who only want to despoil and rob others of it.

I'd be interested to know who's the person who posed those questions. Doesn't sound like an xjw to me, personally. Because even a retarded sloth that left the witnesses could see that the vast majority of these questions are perfect bait for jw snake oil & doublespeak. Which you're good at. (hmmm, did you post those questions yourself you weasel?)

Consider this: IMHO: If what you believe in is so despensible that you can throw it out if the going gets rough then you don't really believe anything at all and your word is pretty sorry and doesn't really mean anything.

It seems to me like you can only get yourself in this quandary if you believe in only one way of worship...

If you believe that worship to God can consist of uttering all kinds of vile lies about your beliefs about God, in order to save the life of your own offspring, then so be it. I wouldn't call that throwing anything out! If it were me alone in a room with a bunch of people making threats towards me alone, it would be different. I couldn't even trust that they wouldn't carry out their threats anyway, even if I said or did what they wanted. But even that small hope would be preferable, in my opinion, to attacking the ones threatening, if the life of my own flesh and blood was on the line. I am a lover, not a fighter ;-)
