did man go to the moon?.

just watched an amazing programme that claimed the moon landings were faked.i was supprised at how compeling the evidence against a moon landing was.anyone know more about the subject?.

if it is true that this didn't happen it raises a whole lot of questions about how trust worthy our governments are.

And for whoever asked about crop circles, a group of guys in England came forward and admitted they created the crop circles. When the true believers questioned them, saying the designs were too impossible to have been made the way the men claimed (using a little advanced math, graphing, along with simple tools like planks and ropes), the gentlemen proceeded to create a marvelously complex crop circle design in a few hours one night, all while being filmed.

The two main researchers on crop circles have completely switched their ideas and now agree that they are man made. Of course, that brought death threats from the true believers!

Seeker, I have read some of this before... Would you mind posting a link? I thought I had heard that some crop circles had been studied, and actually couldn't have been made that way, but my research is old and, to be honest, this is just a tangent interest of mine; I've got no emotional investment in it one way or another. I know that there have actually been "crop circle competitions" here and there, to see who could make the most convincing ones, but have never seen proof that all crop circles were manmade.

Would you condone abortion?

today i questioned my mother about the fact that she told me ?

yrs ago how she lost 2 kids through a miscarriage but then later told me she aborted them,well i didnt know what to say, but then later questioned her about this i asked her why she did it, she told me that she was already bringing up me and my sister and financialy impossible to look after two more kids,well i didnt agree with that reason or any reason to kill the unborn she then said she wasnt in the truth then "huh what difference does that make".

then she gave an illustration of reasons when you should condone abortion and it goes like this, if you were raped and later found out you were pregnant what would you do she seemed to say she would abort it,i said i wouldnt if that happened to my wife i said i would probably end up having it adopted,after all its better than murder.. how has this affected my familys view on abortion i wonder, well i have 5 sisters and 1 more brother,and already my brother in cold blood made his girlfriend abort hers due to the inconvienience,and also my older sister had hers aborted 2 yrs ago because the father didnt want to know with out a hint of regret,so im now starting to see a pattern in my family,whos to blame them or my mother as a role model.. so to cut a long story short do you think killing an unborn child is murder,would you do it under certain scenarios.

The reason I have such strong feelings is because on Oct 31, 1986, I had an abortion.
On May 16, 2001, I had a beautiful baby girl.
I remember. I know.

And you contrast the birth of the beautiful baby girl with the end of the potential that the earlier fetus had. But that was still *potential*, and, yes, it was *life*, but I don't know of any proof that it was a sentient, human life. I am truly sorry for your pain, but I think you are most likely beating yourself up without cause.

Satan's system has tried very hard for everyone to come to an accurate knowledge of the Bible. Thinking that there were just sheep and goats might have came from the Watchtower but if you were to look it up in the Bible you might speculate it yourself. The timeframe about the future is ALL speculation. It is the heart condition that Jehovah is after and not a judgment or separation.

Huh? Honestly, Bleep, you have a lot of trouble with coherence. I'm not saying that to insult you; rather, I'm trying to understand. You seem to think you have a big, bad point to make, but what is it? You say here that Satan's system is trying for people to come to an accurate knowledge of the Bible... Earlier you said "Satan's System will stop at nothing to take away God's Bible and clear understanding." Which is it? What do you mean? What's the point with respect to this thread?

Lots of people are being judged right now, by you. If we apostates had stayed in the organization you view as God's, we'd be judging others too, not 'learning good principles.' Along the lines of what you said in the first place, Jesus *tried* to plant a great seed. But no matter how great a person he was, he failed. People like you are still judging, thinking they're right, without any basis to their judgments. To quote "your Lord,"

today ive lost my job,had a change of heart,cant cope with my 5 yr old son mmmm what shall i do then i think ill just kill it yeh that will make everything better. Am i more open minded know. [not a true analogy; as Xander pointed out, how is a single or double celled fetus the same as a 5 year old child?]

looks like a baby to me. [and therefore, it is a baby? like i posted above, we need science's input on this. a monkey fetus looks a lot like a baby too.]

women that go ahead and have a child even though they were raped are heroes. That little baby is still a baby. That child is not a rapist. And if she loves and keeps that baby instead of sending it to a loving adoptive family, then more honor to her.

These are the kinds of emotional arguments that are currently in use by those who want to outlaw abortion, all abortion, and want to prevent any- and everyone from having an abortion. But you don't *know*. The whole "potential" debate is meaningless, as Xander also pointed out; I have the potential to have sex with a squirrel. And the demand to "have the baby, and give him or her up for adoption" is charged as well. This truly is a CHOICE, as you don't know what sort of life will come of it. Anyone that wants to support with hard statistics whether the average baby given up for adoption has a chance at a good life is more than welcome to post it; personally, though it may sound cold, I doubt the world needs any more people who grow up thinking they're not wanted!

Actually, Xander has made some of the most intelligent comments on this issue here. I've often wondered: Why doesn't the government (I'm talking about the USA, but I'm unaware of *any* govt doing this) simply commission an objective study as to when a fetus becomes a human being? In other words, possesses a true stream of consciousness, can process input and make conclusions about it, etc? It can't be that hard to figure it out with modern technology. An EEG would do the trick. And then we wouldn't have to listen to people argue til we're all nauseous about "pro-choice" vs. "pro-life" when in reality, no one *knows*. At the moment, it's all about ideology and/or religion. Some call it "murder," but they don't know. Some call it "choice," or "an extension of the woman's body," but they don't know, either. Until some real research backs up either claim, it's ridiculous to cast judgment on someone who has an abortion. Law should be based upon science, IMO.

For the record, if I accidentally got a girlfriend pregnant, I would respect her right to have an abortion... No matter how early she did so, tho, she wouldn't be my girlfriend anymore, because I disagree in my heart with abortion. BUT... That doesn't mean that I KNOW. This is not an issue for anyone to decide for someone else.

Baptism - The Issue of Consent - for children

the issue of whether a person has consented to a particular action is a core part of our social relationships whether they be personal or group interactions.

to participate in any social relationship a person must on some level consent to that participation.

Erie, of course baptism is a religious rite, and not subject to application of contract law. No judge can or should force the JW's to back down from their stance on child baptism. But those who administer the rite should at least show the same discernment as those who determine who can or can't enter into a legally binding contract. I think the point here is that children just don't have the ability to determine whether they will forever be willing to abide the terms of *any* contract they agree to at a young age. Religious, legal or otherwise. Yes, JW baptism is a contract, with lifelong penalties for those children who accept it and then, as adults, realize that they made a childish mistake. And that is wrong. Wrong on the part of those who set the doctrine, not the children that make the so-called choice to be baptized.
