i saw 'revenge of the sith' this past weekend.
i couldn't help but find similarities of anakin and young male jws.
in fact, i felt a lot like anakin.
Talking to a Witness, this is what he told me:
"I got the feeling that the Emperor was an apostate misleading another apostate-wannabe in Annakin. The scene where the Emperor is talking against the Jedi Masters, twisting things so that young Annakin starts doubting his former "friends". Just like Annakin was trying to be more powerful than the Jedi Masters, apostates want to replace the Governing Body by influencing their former brothers with the dark side."
What do you think about that one?
I remember a quarrel a few years ago that the body was having over the territory limits of a new congregation. As I understand, some of the elders forming the new congregation wanted to split the territory evenly (50/50) while the elders staying in the original congregation wanted to hold on to most of the territory. A bit silly if you ask me.
being on this site is obviously taboo for most active jehovah's witnesses since it is frequented by disfellowshipped and disassociated people who are supposed to be shunned.
from what i understand though, elders are allowed to talk to df'd and da'd people, so logically wouldn't it be okay for them to post here?
come to think about it, if an elder logged on here he would have an opportunity to check the repentance of these individuals and perhaps "win them back to jehovah".
I believe an elder might visit a site like this if he had reason to. For example, if he sees some "apostate" traits on a member of the congregation. I do not know if anyone at Bethel monitors this site or not. I would imagine those in the legal department would to get their defence ready. I'm not a lawyer, but if I were it would seem logical to see what your foe is doing, planning or saying. Just my thoughts...
probably been discussed before but, we were just checking the monthly reports in this years km's and started looking back over the last few years to then getting out 1994/5 km's to find that basically in our country the number of publishers is about the same each year.
a couple of peaks and troughs, but basically the same.

Numbers can be very deceiving. For example, the US shows a 0% increase nationally, but the congregation I am currently attending was formed this past September because of the increase. In fact, in our small city there were 4 congregations in 1998, there are now 9 congregations. So at least in my part of the US there is tremendous growth. Each one of us will see a different thing in the numbers published. It's a "half glass full" or "half glass empty" situation. I can see Jehovah's blessing in my life and our congregation. I do not think that the work will increase at those rates in our city since the territory assigned to each congregation has been reduced significantly because of the new formed congregations. See, you have to see the positive instead of all the negativity.

Scully: Referring to this comment "typical though... humble, non-anointed JWs do all the preaching grunt-work, and the WTS (which denies being a prophet) gets to claim the Prophet Class? status.", I would like to say that you are bing a bit close-minded. Sure, the "other sheep" outnumber the "annointed" in 2005. But when you read the history of the organization in individual countries (yearbooks), who where those brothers in the early 20th century doing the preaching work. Going into inhospitable areas and reaching many with their message. They were the annointed, so don't overlook the hard work they put in. I am proud of helping out the "annointed" with the preaching work.

IP_SEC: On the dates you post, where the brothers not interpreting scriptures, erronously I agree, but they were not providing a "new" prophesy. For example 1914, sure they did not know exactly what was to happen, they assumed some things, but they were reading scriptures, analyzing, calculating and knew something special would happen in 1914.

No reason to feel bad for the Chinese as the end has not come yet. I think Jehovah will be just in the end. But instead of worrying so much about the Chinese, you should worry about your own salvation.
I understand your post, but you did not answer my question. The Bible does prophesy a "speeding" up of the recollection, but couldn't that have been fulfilled already in the U.S. or are we not to take into account the numbers coming into the Organization in the many lands that show an increase?

There are many aspects to the work of a Prophet: It could be to prophesy, but it could also be to spread Jehovah's message. The quote you posted says the "Prophet" refers to "they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses". I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I certainly do not prophesy, but I do preach the good news.

If the Witnesses are correct about Harmageddon and the gathering of the sheep, then shouldn't the work slow down as the recollection of these sheep comes to an end?

Because they do not prophesy (cannot be a false prophet if you are not a prophet), they study and interpret prophesies already written in the Bible. Two completely different things. (30 words).
