  now the majority of people nowadays do no go by the hope of old times.

  now the reason for this is important and goes beyond mere words.

  looter - It's possible to believe in God and still own up to everything you do as a person. Matter of fact, that's what you could argue Jesus taught his disciples.

  Please don't go into an area you have no idea about. Jesus did not teach his disciples that you can be a good person without belief in God. He taught that if you don't believe in God, you will die in some sort of imminent apocalypse. And, no, this is not what I'm just saying; this is a dominant scholarly view about the historical Jesus.

  By the way, I'm also having difficulties with understanding your points, especially because you keep contradicting yourself. Please write one thesis statement as you have probably been taught to do in high school, and build your body paragraph(s) accordingly.

  All Day K.H. Maintenance Meeting !!!!

  the whole congregation was required to sign up for this all day program.what are they going to talk about for the full day.

  maybe a one hour talk by an elder about "responsible toilet cleaning in this time of the end" with demos as how it can be accomplished.

  only sisters seem to need to listen to that one.. maybe cutting grass to the proper height so we don't bring reproach on jehovah's name.

  Why are anniversaries allowed but not birthdays?

  the scripture quotes aside, i was always told that we don't celebrate birthdays because that is a celebration of the self, which has no place in jehovah's organization.

  then why celebrate anniversaries?

  anniversary celebrations are about the joining of two selves, isn't that twice as selfish?.

  An Odd Request from Our Ex-JW Son

  my wife and i, both out of the religion for nearly twenty years, live in the same border town as our 44 year old only son.

  we have scant contact with our numerous jw relatives, although a handful of clever "double life" nieces and nephews socialize with our son.. we care for our six year old grandson weekdays while our single parent son makes a living.

  we've been infinitely better grandparents than we were parents, primarily because of our exit from a high control cult, but also because of life experience.

  Was it the request from your son (to teach his son some Bible stories) or the request from your grandson (to play Minecraft) that you found odd? The title indicates the former, but I, being an atheist, don't find it odd at all, so I'm in need of clarification, it seems.

  handed in my disassociation letter, it kicked up a storm and 2 weeks later i was disfellowshipped.

  it appears that watchtower is distancing itself from the blood fractions.

  the new "blood card" doesn't mention them and any mention of blood in the watchtower ignores fractions.

  i wander if they are going back to their hard stance.

  When I saw this study article, I suddenly desired to attend the meeting tomorrow to give a stupid answer...

  Par. 6 has a question which reads, "What should guide our decisions?" I wanted to say that we need to think independently and reject anything absurd. Then, I wanted to give an example of the "overlapping generations" and reason, very briefly, why we should "reject outright such lies." (I'm "mis"quoting Stephen Lett―something that the Watchtower seems to enjoy.) I wanted to finish the answer by saying, "I do not answer to Watchtower. Watchtower does not, and never has had, any authority over me." All this would be an answer to "What should guide our decisions?"

  However, I soon realised that they would take the microphone from me anyway. But, heck, I would love to see whether any elders would want to talk to me after the meeting!
