My husband and I joke that we are going to get the watchtower symbol and then have a red line drawn through it like the ghostbuster sign. Say No to watchtower!

JW family made contact....
by LouBelle in.....after 8 years of us being disfellowshipped.
the made contact through my aunt who is still 'in' - as in she has faded but is not disfellowshipped and will pop to a meeting now and again - she does this for my grans' sake.. the contact was from my aunt and uncle (he's an elder) these were the 2 witnesses used against me in my judicial case.
they contacted my aunt and said to forward the message onto us.

Good for you LouBelle, you have a lot of strength and courage. I hope you are starting to feel much better and I am proud of you that you are standing up to the relatives that have cast you out. It really takes a lot of nerve to go ask someone for help when they have treated you as if you were worse than dead. I like the response you have planned. Keep us informed on how it goes when you meet.

Got a angry letter from our oldest son today we are very hurt from it.
by TotallyADD inwhen i got home today from work my wife showed me a 5 page letter from our oldest son.
he basically said he does not what anything to do with us because of all the wrong things we did as parents to him and his brother.
he blames us for not being there for him and we are toxic parents.

oops! I wrote my response before I finished reading the thread. Do you think you could ask your son to come over without his family. Maybe if you could sit and have an adult conversation between the three of you he might see that you are trying and you have made a lot of changes. My dil gave us some trouble too but that has been mended. For us being in the religion was a huge thing with her and now that we are out things are much better. Hang in there.

I am sorry you are going through this. Your letter was very kind and if you have to continue to tell him you are sorry then keep doing it. I would consider going to counciling with him as he suggested. An impartial person will also help him see that he needs to forgive and move on. My husband and I both told our son we were sorry for the way we treated him and things between us are very good at this point. My husband and I also started to see a therapist before we woke up and it then helped us to see the crazyiness of the religion. If you get a good therapist it can work wonders for your family all the way around. I hope things get better for you and just keep hanging in there and don't give up. He is angry right now and hopefully that will lesson as time goes on. His wife may have also fired him up and if she wasn't a JW she doesn't understand the control they have over your life.

JW Grammar is...
by jw07 in*we are all from different cultural and educational backgrounds, we all experience different circumstances in life, and i don't mean to offend anyone on this forum in any way.*.
with that said here are my observations, and i want to know what you have observed.. in my experience i have noticed a trend: zealous witnessestend to exhibit the worst grammar when compared to non-witnesses!.
i want you to think back, or check it out for yourself if you haven't noticed it.. on social networks: compare comments on anything by jws (especially the uber-zealous ones) with those of your atheist or other religiously affiliated friends.

That was one of my pet peeves. There were too many elders that couldn't speak proper English and their talks were horrible. I told my husband on many occassions that they sounded very ignorant up there talking and I would turn them off. Education isn't important to many of them because the "END" is coming so why should we learn how to speak properly.

Why elders' wives are such gossipers...
by Calebs Airplane ini have a theory as to why elders' wives gossip so much.
i believe a big part of it has to do with the conversation running dry (between themselves and their elder husbands) after so many years of marriage.
since they don't get to spend too much "quality time" together (because of the elder husband's hamster wheel schedule), when they do have some intimate time alone, the elder's wives will invaribly attempt to engage their husbands in any kind of interchange.

In the last cong we were in the COBE was the biggest gossiper I ever met. He would tell me all kinds of things because I was an elders wife. If he did it today I would definately say something. He spread a terrible rumor about someone being an apostate when they weren't. The sad thing is he is a big time elder on the HLC and other projects.

I was an elders wife and my husband never told me anything that was going on and I never asked. I never looked in his brief case or files at home or through the phone bills. He kept everything to himself and I am glad he did. He wasn't one to gossip to other elders and if he wasn't involved in a committee and didn't want to know what it was about. I did have a "friend" that knew everything that was going on and she claimed her husband didn't tell her but he had to have told her because she knew everything and I mean everything. She also told me people would go to her with things that had happened instead of going to the elders so she knew that way too.

At what age can a JW be baptised in the UK?
by jwfacts ini just received an email from an unbaptised publisher that made the following comment;.
in the uk the age of consent by law for a child is 16 and only then can they be baptized of their own free will.
is anyone aware of jws that have been baptised younger than 16 in the uk?.

Welcome! I am sorry to hear that your family has shunned you and that they went to those lengths to find out what you were doing. You will make a much happier and healthier life for you and your children. It does get easier with time and we are all here if you need to talk. It feels good to be free from their crazy teachings. I am glad your husband is free with you. My husband came out with me too and it has made things much easier than others whose spouses are still in. I wish you so much happiness! Looking forward to hearing your story.
