@free@last, she came to Nigeria seeking a political appointment i.e a top government job not a politically career! She didn't get one, and has since returned to the UK claiming insecurity in Nigeria. And she is one you can call a well-faded JW who becomes one back in family circles to prevent the backlash of shunning, my mum's people call her one of those weak oyinbo JWs.

Did Yahweh command child sacrifice at one time?
by srd inalthough there is no explicit commandment or stipulation that ordains child sacrifice in the bible, there are nonetheless numerous passages that discuss it as if it was being practiced.
this post lays the query out.

On the brighter side, guessed Jephthat daugther didn't died a virgin. Maybe some men did go with them in roaming those "hills and valleys" (hmmm, I love porn, sorry err puns), and my, what a time she must have had- give me good sex with reckless abandon for two whole uninterrupted months, then make a martyr of me, I'd be very much obliged!
And Isaac's story could never be complete without the tranquilizers, ropes and bondage materials (yeah, he was drugged and overpowered by Abraham and his servants), then he was also an imbecile (couldn't get himself a wife, couldn't recognise his own kids, couldn't distinguish hog meat from mutton!), so he wasn't worth much anyway.
And don't mind God when he said it "never came up in his mind", when you too have being living for eternity, you'd see whether you wouldn't suffer from some descent amnesia (remember, then "all the former things would not be called to mind"). Well, okay, I agree, his is selective amnesia but amnesia all the same.
Did you say God sacrificed Jesus? C'mon he wasn't even technically dead, imagine just 3 days out of infinity! Let's just say he passed out for a moment and was resuscitated. And lest you forget, the Romans and Jewish leaders did it and not God, he only "allowed" it to happened!
A couple lines in a poem I wrote on the several atrocities perform by "God" reads:
But God was not found guilty
For God was not found...at all

So, mum called this this afternoon and asked if I had heard of the London terror attacks, I replied that I know of it.
Then she asked, Don't you recognise him?"
So I answered, "No".
Mum: Don't you recognise Tobi?
Me: Which Tobi?
Mum: Tobi, Aunty Juliet's son
Me: What! No, I couldn't have recognised him, only spoken to him on phone! Wait, mum, but those guys are Jehovah's Witnesses if I remember well?
Mum: Yep, that's what I am trying to impress in you. People who leave Jehovah's organization often turn up worst!
Me: Mum, you remember Jonathan Holt, don't you?
Mum: Don't let us go there now, your father is here, and he will not be happy hearing you parrot those apostate talks...
Me(cuts in): He can't bear to hear the truth about the truth...
Mum(cuts phone)
So, but then the reality sank, I am a relative (distant cousins) to one of the terrorists, Micheal Adebowale! Yeah, his parents are JWs altho' seemed his dad stopped after the divorce( no one in the news seemed to have mentioned that), and his mum had been complaining a long while about him having bad associates to us back home in Nigeria. I hate this terrorism as it has claimed thousands of lives back home but now it struck nearer to home again even in faraway Britain. First Damilola Taylor, now Tobi, seems my mum's family is having more than their fair share of terror deaths and terrorists!

Disfellowshipping and different cultures
by man in black in.
my wife and i walked away from the jw religion 6 years ago.. she works at a school part-time, and several of the maintenance people are hispanic and active jw's from our area.. they go out of their way to be friendly, but always in a somewhat guarded way.. we were talking about this last night, and she thinks that different cultures do not respect or honor the df / da requirements of the jw religion the same across the board.. i don't believe that,,,, from what i've seen over the years shunning a non believer who leaves or is df'ed is a pretty standard thing.
or is it true that different areas, or cultures adapt their own way of handling this belief?.

Most people in my sch cong. (where I was DFed) follow the law to the letter*at least most do, the others look left and right and then say a quick hi*, but in my home congo which is almost family-like, hardly does anyone shun me. Yes, contact and communication is reduced, but they still all greet me! And across the family it even differs, maternal side almost all my cousins have cut me off, and even my grandma refuses to assist in loaning her favourite G-son his school fees, but paternal side it's been all love-bombing. Home front same, dad cold mom warm, sister enstrangled brother indifferent. So I think it's not culture, it's perspertive and how much of the Kool-Aid they drinking!

Is that discrimination for not hiring straight people?
by Iamallcool ini do know one agency (i will not give a clue what kind of agency is it, etc...) that was run by a straight married female and her staff did not have any gay people in it and she quit to move to another state with her husband.
the board of directors hired a gay male to head the staff, the staff slowly quit by one by one for some unknown reasons and he begin to hire gay people to work for him, i now do not see any single straight worker working for him, is that discrimination for not hiring straight people?.

If straight people refused to work there as you said and quit, simple question is, who would be left?! I think the discrimination actually happen when all the other staff started leaving because the administrator is gay! My orientation is heterosexual and homosexuality is somewhat strange in my country here, but I can't help but feel annoyance over people who wouldn't let people be people whether "straight" or gay. And is the agency delivering? If it's not then you have a 'moral' cause for complaint.

Sense of reality
by d insince leaving the jw's in 2008 i still struggle with a crisis of meaning at times.
i feel like at times life has no set purpose and we are just empty humans floating in space.i struggled a lot with this when i left in 2008 but so no much any more.. i feel like my set version of reality was falling apart and i felt at times i was falling into a deep abyss.. .
did any of you feel like that when you left the jw's?.

Sometimes I do too, especially when one has no one to turn to except one's JW family. But remembering that their own reality is a mirage, a cacophony of deceits, illusions and half-truth just makes my reality seem more tangible. And having set new dreams for myself, now I often go about with more purpose, altho' at times I just crumble like an half-baked pie. But pls just get back on track anytime it happens, its our withdrawal symptoms of leaving the conc. opium of JW teachings!

Un-friending JW Facebook Friends-Therapy
by nicsfreedom init may sound harsh but i am finding it therapeutic to unfriend my jw friends today on facebook.
i just can't live in the past anymore.
so sick of the drama, spying and having to pretend to be something i am not.

Unfriended most of my friends too when they kept barraging my parents with calls about my posts and were always getting my mother all upset. Now, I think I also have to unfriend some family members too (unfriend most of them already but kept some to avoid an info blackout) as they too keep telling my parents and all other family members about my posts, and I think I might have to ease them out too. But, my that is the most bitter pill to swallow!

25 YEARS of compiled yearbook statistics
by 88JM inhello again folks - as promised in my last thread here, i've been working on turning yearbook statistics into excel spreadsheets.. coincidentally, today is my 25th birthday (spare a thought for a fader).. i've now updated the spreadsheet with yearbook data all the way back to 1988 (the year i was born), therefore it now contains 25 years of statistics.. there were a lot of countries changing around and for some it was possible to create a continuation of data.
some are a simple change of name like south-west africa to namibia.
others, for example - in 1993 with czechoslovakia splitting into two countries (czech republic and slovakia) i have added an extra row that provides a continuation of the data, combining czech republic and slovakia back together as if they were still one country.

The Only True Doctor A Parable
by goatshapeddemon ina friend of mine recently found out a few years back that she had an aggressive form of breast cancer.
she went to many doctors, but all of them told her she had to have a mastectomy and undergo radiation therapy.
that seemed really unappealing to her.
