i have asked this previously and repeat the point, where were the current members of the governing body, 43 years ago.

I am sure they all remember the hype and are complicit in trying to deceive and whitewash history.

Herd is the oldest. He was 40 in 1975 and a full time recruiter.

Loesch was 35, already "anointed", and was a Gilead trained Missionary.

Splane was 32, a Gilead trained missionary.

Lett was 28, son of a CO, claiming to be anointed since age 19, and a Bethelite.

Morris was 25, newly recruited and baptized in 1971 in the frenzy leading up to 1975, pioneering and raising a young family. This might have added to his PTSD from the Vietnam War.

Jackson was 20, having been baptized as a child, dropping out of high school, pioneering from his teens, and married in time to have sex before Armageddon.

Sanderson is the youngest, but baptized very young at age 9 in 1973. His deluded parents might understand all of this best, since they likely were anxious to get him baptized before his destruction in fall 1975. At age 11, he would have believed anything the adults told him.

Dutch conventions organized like circuits

here in holland jw.org is organizing for the first time the yearly conventions like circuits.

the whole summer the new convention hall is used for small group conventions instead of 10.000 seat external halls.. it keeps the money in the organization.

not renting external buildings.. the 29.000 witnesses here are divided now into 2.000 seat audience.. g..

Gorby, is this the assembly hall featured on jwtv, where the people were bragging about how their faith was strengthened because they had to sell their businesses and houses, and quit their jobs for the privilege to give away their labor for free? Since they are now jobless and homeless, they are eager to give away their labor to build cult structures in Africa, for food and lodging.

2017 Sunday RC Final Talk & Comments About 1975

many of us here have commented on the deceitful friday afternoon video shown at the 2017 rc that discussed 1975.. the video attempted to shift the blame onto congregation members for the fiasco saying, "some were looking to a certain date as signifying the end of this old system of things.".

this same video mentions how, “a few even went so far as selling their homes and quitting their jobs.”.

we all know that the wt leadership created this teaching and endorsed it right up to its abject failure.. now below is the concluding talk given on sunday at the rc.

The speaker, introduced as George, appears to be in denial about the cause of the expectations surrounding 1975. He and his family have huge sunk costs. He has been employed at wt for 42 years and at age 60 or so he has few other job prospects and likely no way to support himself in retirement. His employer made up this stuff about 1975 and pushed it hard. If he blames them, he loses his livelihood.

My impression is that this is type of self flagellation, or, to use a communist era term, "self criticism". Instead of admitting he was duped by Freddy and wt, he takes the blame upon himself, and brags that he was able to get over it by keeping it in his head and not letting it go to his own treacherous heart. It's what he needs to do to feel good about an awful situation. Or maybe he suffers from folie a deux. Any jw under 60 will take him at his word, if they are still asleep. Older ones will try hard to agree with him.

What did NOT get you out?

i realize this is odd, but a "how you woke up" thread and the personal stories that are told which i know we all enjoy, made me think of this.

in helping my wife and a couple others get the ball rolling, i realized the thing that resonated with me, didn't even move the needle with them.

i wanted to rail on and on about blood, because that was my conduit to waking up, but for my wife it was about shunning.

There were several things that should have made me decide to leave.

- an older sibling baptized and dfd at at a very young age,

- massive hypocrisy

- the first time I heard an insane rant by Tony Morris, live at a convention.

The first time I listened to Tony I felt sorry for him, since he was obviously suffering from PTSD, from his experience in Vietnam. The second time I heard Tony's rant was the 2014 Annual Meeting broadcast to our KH. That made me realize the wt is managed by lunatics and panicked me into looking for the exit.

My Younger Brother Has Left The Witnesses!! :-D

absolutely thrilled to give you the news that my younger brother, a zealous full-time pioneer has left the witnesses!!.

i haven't seen or spoke to him in a year.

i'd lost all contact with him, no facebook, no mobile number, i didn't even know his address because he'd moved house.

PE, I am happy for you and your brother. He left the jw hamster wheel for the best of reasons - doctors orders and to save his own life. No one should criticize him or try to blame anyone.

Wanting Less Involvement (long newbie story)

i was raised a jw and am currently pioneer in a foreign language congregation.

i have been unhappy on and off with my involvement in this religion and am ready to step back again.

growing up i was always active but extremely reserved and a low hour publisher.

It is good you are calmly looking at all the options. Please continue to be calm and cautious. Perhaps you can glean bits and pieces of advice hear that will help you on your journey to freedom.

Whats in it for them?

i have been out for nearly 40 years now - baptized at 14 (although not to the org), but faded away.

but i am wondering about this:.

aside from the obvious power they wield, what's is in it for the gb?

My opinion is that all seven are completed deluded. Loesch and Morris came in as traumatized young men, and the other five appear to have been indoctrinated since childhood. I also believe they have to be extremely narcissistic to have risen so high in the cult, and that they fully enjoy having the honor and glory due to God pass through them, thus they constantly nag people to pray for them.

Last of the big conventions?

had lunch with some friends during today's waste of time convention.

they spoke of the rumor floating around that the jws will move away from these big regional conventions and have them at assembly halls and tie them in to kingdom halls.. they seemed to believe it was a pretty reliable source.. i think it would be too good to be true but who knows?.

anyone else heard this rumor?.

Having the longer convention including a Friday requires greater buy-in from the r n f, since they have take a vacation day and sometimes risk being fired. It is also more effective to have longer brainwashing sessions to keep them out of touch with reality. The greater the travel time, expense and sacrifice, the greater the sunk cost becomes.

Never give up!

i just wanted to share a quick thread to remind us all to never give up hope that our loved ones who are still mentally trapped in the org may one day wake up.. when i first starting waking up i never thought my wife would also awake.

i have always loved and respected her ability to think and reason, but i assumed that the hold of the organisation would always have its grip on her.. but slowly, and with patience, i shared some things i had learned, and the results have been amazing!.

my dear wife, who posts here under the name "unstuck" is so fully awake along with me.

Way to go! Thank you for the encouragement and for posting about your journey. We each have unique situations to deal with, but my situation is similar enough that I can use some pointers from your experience. I dream of the day my wife also comments here.
