At this point, I think we have a good idea of everyone's opinion of Islam. For the love of God, can we move on to something else!

JW's And Their Education Level
by Yesu Kristo Bwana Wangu ini was thinking about this.... in my congregation, i was literally the only one with universitary education, out of a cong from around 110 people.... and we're very close to a very big university, which makes it even weirder.. on the other hand... sooo many here with their own business, mostly small cleaning businesses.
cleaning windows, or cleaning somewhere else... painters.... all have jobs that do not require any education level, cos they never had a decent education.. how is the composition of the jw people/congs that you know about?.
how many painters... cleaners... compared to people with jobs that require higher education?.

My eldest son graduated from a local University and was immediately hired by the same school to work in administration.
Good salary, great benefits (immediate medical, a month of paid vacation), and within a year married his dream girl. Has a flexible schedule that allows him to auxiliary pioneer, while his wife pioneers. Able to take a month off to go where the need is great this summer. Damn that education!

The Latest Trend in NW England: Homeschooling Your Children
by pale.emperor ini dont know if this is becoming a national thing or even globally.
but im hearing more and more people i knew from my jw days have taken their kids out of school to home school them instead.
in my sisters case she's taken her 8yo and 6yo children out already and her 3yo wont ever start a school.

Unless the parents or children are motivated, the chances for success are slim. There are at least three families in my congregation where the grown children still live at home, with marginal jobs at best.

“Well…it was a test”, says a laid-off Bethelite
by My Name is of No Consequence ini got this account second hand.
a former bethelite was reassigned to a local congregation.
he had been at bethel for years and is now in his fifties.

New Bethel candidates should be told of a loving provision from Jehovah that releases them into the field at 55 so they have ten years to build up Social Security.

Born in baptisms to avoid embarrassment
by Spoletta ini noticed a recent commenter mention an assembly that had only one baptism, a born in.
the last assembly i went to had three baptisms, of which two were born ins.
could part of the motivation for youth baptism be to avoid the embarrassment of an assembly with no baptisms at all?

I've never been to an assembly with no baptisms, so wasn't sure if they kept a supply of backups for emergencies.

Trump pledges to 'totally destroy' law that bars political speech by churches, other orgs
by OrphanCrow inno wonder the gb aren't too concerned about getting involved in foreign politics.
they have rutherford's clone on their side.. https://www.rt.com/usa/376119-trump-political-speech-churches/.
at the national prayer breakfast, president donald trump repeated a campaign promise, vowing to end the federal law that restricts political speech and activity by churches and other tax-exempt organizations.

The churches should have all the rights we have as long as they shoulder all the burdens the rest of us work under, such as paying taxes. Maybe Trump is getting ready to screw them in his new budget, as he's done to the rest of his base(except the 1%).

Watchtower & Guns
by freemindfade inapparently jehalapeno isn't a 2nd amendment supporter either.... .
july 17 questions from readers.... the way this part is worded screams cult to me, i was quite amused.. how a christian chooses to protect himself, his family, or his possessions is, of course, largely a personal matter, as is his choice of employment.. geee!
thanks watchtower for allowing me to "largely chose my own employment" you are a generous cult lol.

Witnesses' Moral Apathy
by konceptual99 inone of the hardest things for me to learn about myself as i have mentally exited "da troof" is that i have a weak moral compass and i think this is common to many witnesses.
i mean that as i have allowed less and less of my thinking to be framed by witness doctrine, i have had to start thinking for myself about how i feel about certain things.
for example, what do i feel about war, freedom of speech for extremists, charitable works, political views, animal welfare and much, much more.. this was underlined this weekend when i attended the circuit assembly (approx 900 attendees, 3 baptised - 2 born ins btw) where the bethel speaker said that witnesses have booked their ticket out of this system and don't have to worry about the wars and famines of this world because they know it's all going to pass with the new system.. in another thread it's been mentioned that the wts is failing to mention other groups being marginalised and persecuted in russia alongside witnesses.. as a witness i never realised the extent to which i was blind to the moral dilemmas that most other people have to think about, educate themselves on and come to a point of view about.

By leaving it to God, they absolve themselves of any responsibility for the world around them. Doing nothing is almost virtuous, because it shows faith that Jehovah will make things right, and keeps them from feeling guilty.

My wife pointed out that in Italy the commenters might chastise the Brothers on the left for their antiquated fashion sense.
