i just want to pass a message along that if anyone watches cbc's "the fifth estate" on wednesday, january 22, 2003 (that's this wednesday night), they should see a promotion for the upcoming jehovah's witness child abuse show at 9:00pm, next wednesday, january 29, 2003.. the promotion should be aired at or near the end of the show - around 9:50 to 9:55 pm on january 22.

Challenge to Family Members
by Carmel ini am suspect that my family (brothers) may very well be lurking here.
perhaps they will come on and answer why they felt it necessary to support the elders who insisted my brother, who had just come out of an iron lung and was instructed by his doctor not to go to public gatherings attend an assembly?
he became immediately ill due to having virtually no active immune system and died within two days only because the elders insisted the family bring him to the assembly regardless of the medical advice.. so fair family of mine, what say you?

Being anti-war does not mean being pro-Saddam. George Bush can talk until he's blue in the face about preventing "weapons of mass destruction" (the most overused phrase of the past twelve months, btw) but he isn't fooling anyone. This war is about oil, plain and simple. Instead of spending billions of dollars going to war, why not put that money into the research & developement of fuel-cell technologies? The results will be 1) cleaner environment, which is good for everyone; 2) less reliance on other countries for fuel and less money paid to other countres, and 3) subsequently monies formerly paid to middle-eastern countries for oil will not go to those countries, and their own coffers will be seriously injured as a result. THAT is the way to eliminate middle-eastern oil lords.
As much as the US likes to consider themselves the most powerful country in the world, they are so interdependant on other countries that they could not survive if trade with those countries was suddenly suspended. Why not work towards greater self-sufficiency?
Why not? Because George Bush is dumb as a f***ing post, that's why, and has no more sense of the broad picture than a 5" tv screen.

Yes, she is, Stephanus. But obviously if she's contacting me, she has doubts as to the validity of all of the Borg's directives.
I think the biggest obstacle to her leaving is that she was still at home in the years following my departure, and she saw what it did to my family, particularly my parents. She has not heard my side of it yet, though, as when we are together we don't talk about it much. Some day we will. :)

Just had to share that I had a visit this evening, albeit a short one, from my sister! She is 19 and has always had a mind of her own, although she still seems to be living in "the truth". Still lives with our parents though, so after she moves out, who knows? Anyways, she drops in to see me at work every couple of months, and this evening she actually came to the house for a visit! She saw my son for the first time since he was three days old. It bothers me that our visits have to be so covert (our parents and older brothers, all JWs, do not know that she is in contact with me). But for now, I'll take it!
I keep hoping that her eyes will be opened and she will eventually see the Borg for what it is. Keep us in your thoughts! :)
