  Politics is taking over again

  i think it's getting a bit much.. please remember that while we dont mind some discussion of current affairs, we are not intending to be a political discussion forum.. i'm getting especially tired seeing some people making insulting and dismissive remarks and just posting dogma and propaganda.

  worse still, it seems some people are *only* interested in posting on political threads and nothing else.

  let me make it clear - that is not why we're here and if that is the only reason that you are here you will find the number of posts you have will be limited.. this of course goes for both sides.

  regarding talk of 2034, is there anyone who has talked to an active witness about this?

  is this the latest talk amongst the congregations, or are we reading into this way too much?.

  is there any witnesses out there that are actually buying this?

  Maybe the ones who *have* read it are so used to being spoonfed every single idea that they haven't even bothered to do the math, or it hasn't occurred to them that there could be significance to the article. Anything "big" that you really have to pay attention to, is released at district conventions anyways, right?

  Anyone Remember the Skating Parties From the 70's ?

  here in the usa during the late 70's, witnesses would rent an entire skating rink and hundreds of kids would show up.

  it was great fun and a chance to socialize without quoting scriptures.

  it seems like just because some were engaging in fornication and smoking in the parking lots that the society put a stop to it.

  Yup, I sure do remember. We would go to a rink that the brothers rented for a Sunday afternoon; the first hour was skating for all, the second hour was a hockey game for the older kids. (I *am* in Canada, after all!!! )

  I was just thinking about that a few weeks ago when Hubby and I were driving through the small town where the rink we rented was.

  Are They Trashing Our Pics Too?

  i was at my parents today for the first time in a while.

  i noticed that they have removed all photos of my brother and i from the walls and furniture.

  we are disfellowshipped.

  My parents recently celebrated a milestone anniversary and at the party given by my siblings, my eldest brother had prepared a Powerpoint presentation with old photos, etc. of our family. There was ONE photo of me, from when I was very small. No photos of my son whatsoever.

  My father said if I left it would be as though I was dead; but they still display photos of other relatives who've passed away. Grrrrrr.

  **edited to add that I was not at the party LOL but this info was passed along to me by my non-JW grandmother.

  More KH dreams.

  i keep dreaming about being at the kh.

  last night i dreamt i was there and two "worldly" people came in to do some shady business transaction with each other.

  they were looking for a third person whom they were supposed to meet there, and wouldn't leave until this person showed up.

  I keep dreaming about being at the KH. Last night I dreamt I was there and two "worldly" people came in to do some shady business transaction with each other. They were looking for a third person whom they were supposed to meet there, and wouldn't leave until this person showed up. Finally they left and as soon as they were out the door, my father locked the KH door.

  I didn't dream about the KH for the longest time, five or six years. Now I dream about it on a weekly basis. Arrrggh. I've been having wierd dreams since I got pregnant anyway but why so many KH dreams???

  Yesterday we bought our Very First Christmas Tree!

  well, actually, i did, but with the blessings of the family.

  it's fake (too many allergies in the house to risk a real one), pre-lit, and 7 feet tall.

  i think it's going to be gorgeous.

  I love Christmas decorating! :) This year we're having xmas dinner at our house for the first time! This year will will be ten years since I first celebrated. I'm happy to say that my son has never *not* celebrated Christmas. :)

  what defines your life now?

  as a jehovahs witness, our lives were clearly "defined".

  for those of us who are no longer in the "truth", what "drives" your life now?.

  for me, it is my kids ( 12, 9, 4--busy--busy--busy) ; my wife; my career; i live by my own personal value system ( tried, tested and working).. the absence of the superimposed restrictive grid of the jw lifestyle has allowed my life to blossom.

  My family; my 3 year old son, and my daughter on the way; and my husband. They're absolutely the most important thing and the main focus of my life. :)
