Who knew that Halloween could be so much fun!

today is my first time celebrating halloween.

and it is just plain fun!

each new thing, birthdays, halloween, next thanksgiving and xmas are all proof that we were held back and restricted from enjoying life.. .

i was a jw from infancy.

we had a melting pot type of congregation.

i grew up with all types of witnesses , all with different backgrounds.

There was plenty of subtle racism in the South, in fact when my parents moved from Buffalo to Spartanburg, SC they were the only white folks in the hall. The congregations were segregated to avoid upsetting the community. When they integrated many did not want to go and there are still to this day many predominate 'black' halls and 'White' halls.

Many gatherings were like this especially in the families. Most folks up north who moved south were not like this and treated everyone the same. I noticed a lot of what I will call reverse racism where there was hidden animosity towards many in the hall. Just my 2 cents/pence...

almost around the corner and i’ve started thinking of all the prep needed for family time.

I am excited to be celebrating for the first time this year. I have bought my first tree / lights / wreath and I am going all out in this. Lots of my non-JW family and friends are providing me with support and ideas. Some of you may remember growing up in the cult like myself and the emotional trama of missing out on all the fun and family times together. Funny all the JW's loved that time of year the sights, the sounds, the smells....

No more 'thank you' in response to Merry Xmas or Happy Holidays...I get to say it right back to the general public and workmates....I am so hyped....

Normal Family Relations Continue...My Arse....

i think that the big issue here is the double standard based on the location of the family members - if they are 'immediate' meaning they live at home in the same dwelling under the same roof then it's ok but if you are like me and living on your own, your family will absolutely avoid contact with you as that is the real jw policy..the old canada court trial and recent swedish news are totally out of context and the jw attorneys are complete tools and filthy liars....

i saw this mentioned on reddit but no link - i found the article form this weeks bible study..... in the “congregation bible study” part of the meeting this week there was a part that said and i quote: “only jehovah god and his son can receive someone into the heavenly kingdom or the paradise on earth under that kingdom.

we should diligently cultivate friendship with them by using what material riches we have in supporting kingdom interests”.

We should diligently cultivate friendship with them by using what material riches we have in supporting Kingdom interests”

Where are the funds going to come from? Warwick Expansion

so with the news that they are remodeling patterson and expanding warwick, where are the funds going to come from?.

could this be a ruse like the need for thousands of kingdom halls proclaimed a few years back only to be replaced with the we realized the halls were not at capacity and the great sell-off began?.

maybe the hope is going to be that the sheep will give give give and then all of the sudden, after prayerful consideration the gb have determined that the current resources are sufficient to create the needed media and content.. my bet is that in 10 years it will all be consolidated to warwick and walkill and patterson will be sold to who i have no idea, but they own a ton of property in upstate ny..
