I agree with insomniac. I always got nervous around everyone in the congregation though because I learned at a very young age you had to mind your p's and q's. I always felt I couldn't be myself and I couldn't talk to people because I might say something wrong something that would offend them. Because I was so shy and quiet at the hall I didn't really have friends. I felt like an outcast at the hall and a outcast at school. I never felt like I belonged anywhere.

Being a JW Woman - Was It Really That Bad?
by eljefe ini have seen quite a few posts from many ex-jw women about how unhappy they were about male domination in congregation.
was it really that bad?
when i was still a jw, no one ever told me anything to that effect.

Yes it was really that bad. I was raised in a family where my mother was very submissive to my father. They never understood me or why i felt woman had equal rights. The elders would constantly talk to my father about me and about how my skirts were too short, I wasn't meeting the hourly requirement in service, I wasn't a regular pioneer. My dad when then tell me about it and I would say to him that this is hear say and I know you don't care and are only telling me these things to get these men off your back you tell them if they have something to say about me then they need to tell me to my face. My dad would go off on how he was the spritual head and it should go threw him. I said well dad I don't believe that so they need to talk to me I am a human being too.
I will also never forgot the date that my grandma set me up on. OMG we went out to the movies and then for coffee and we were talking and I was telling him about the direction I wanted my carrer to go and how eventually many years down the road I may want children. He proceeded to tell me that I didn't know the woman's place and if I was going to be a good witness woman I needed to stay home regular pioneer and have babies and serve her husband. I told him right then that he could take me home and this date was over and I was not interested in seeing him ever again as he needed to learn about equality.
I ended up really lucky though I met my husband as a dub and he was all about equality between woman and men and didn't understand why the witnesses were that way. In fact when the elders talked to him after we were married about my clothing choices he told them he thought I looked fine and that it is not his place to tell me what to wear. He said that was my choice and if they have a problem with it they need to talk to me but he wasn't going to. They told him that he needed to learn how to be my head.
I would definetly say the treatment of woman played a huge role in me leaving and bothered me for many years. I have so many stories I could tell but these are just a few.

The *What would you do* game
by Stefanie inokay, i am in a playfull mood today .
i will ask a what would you do question, and the next person answers what they would do in that situation, then goes on to ask their own question.
what would you do if when you woke up in the morning you were 10 years younger?

If JW's never existed I would probably never had been born as my dad would have been raised Roman Catholic and My mom would have been raised protestant and my aunt would have never met my dad's sister and become friends with her and eventually introduce my mom and dad to eachother.
What would you do all day if you didn't have to work and money wasn't an issue?

What's Your Budget For Christmas Shopping???
by minimus ini'm new to this.
i want some ideas.
thank you.......

It depends on the person. We don't have any kids yet (we will next year ) so we are taking a $1,000 for ourselves and spliting it, my sister, his sister, and good friend we spent $100 on, and the rest average between 40-60 depending on how close we are to them. I feel though with Christmas it doesn't matter how much you spend it is who you are with. Next I plan to start a Christmas savings account in January and put away every month so we have all our money for Christmas.

I have been watching it and I think it will be Twila or Scout. I hate Eliza and hope she gets voted off first in the final 4. I would like to see Chris win but the only way he has a shot is to win immunity,

Do you and your significant other share religious beliefs?
by MelbaToast insometimes, i think my husband is much more church oriented than i am.
i still get upset when i attend church, but lately he has been putting the push on me for us to go back to his church where he grew up in.
he would like to start taking our daughter so she has a somewhat structured religious belief.

My husband and I really don't talk about our beliefs, I think we are both still sorting them all out. I would like to go to a non demonational church every once in awhile just to meet people and other families. He is totally aganist that idea and won't do it he tells me to find other ways to meet people and families. He has no desire to go to a church of any kind ever and I respect that. After going to the Kingdom Hall for so many years it does make it hard I think you are always afraid that they are going to be just as Judgmental as the witnesses are and you are not going to be able to be yourself.
