I was just looking for quotes like these the other day. Thanks for posting them. To think that god somehow directs an organization that publshes things like this. Amazing!

FOOD at the proper time and NEW LIGHT from the Golden Age/Awake!
by Terry inwe do well to bear in mind that among the drugs, serums, vaccines, surgical operations, etc., of the medical profession, there is nothing of value save an occasional surgical proceedure.
their so-called "science" grew out of egyptian black magic and has not lost its demonological character.... we shall be in a sad plight when we place the welfare of the race in their hands.
[1] 1. the golden age, aug. 5, 1931, p. 727.. the journal of the a. m. a. is the vilest sheet that passes the united states mail.... nothing new and useful in theraputics escapes its unqualified condemnation.

Funny double standards used by my wife today
by teel inso in an argument we get to the point that the wts has problems.
so what, says her, if you got a meter (or yardstick if you prefer) and one centimeter is missing, are you going to throw it all away?
the same, if from the truth are missing only some pieces, is it not the truth?

Great comeback! I often wonder if someone would have thrown something like that in my face when I spouted something like that what I would have done. It's easy to think now that it would have made me think, but the truth is probably not. Double standards don't exist until you take the blinders off.

Do you think on an ex-mormon thread this thread would get any responses? Only on a ex-JW website. LMAO at the tiger by the tail comment.

The Wisdom of No Escape and the Path of Loving Kindness- No need for religion in spirituality
by OnTheWayOut inreading tmj4477's thread about religion after jw's and reading perry trying to counter ak-jeff on a thread about god and suffering, both of these made me want to post some eastern thought that doesn't fall into the category of "religious" but might help nonetheless.. .
excerpt from the wisdom of no escape (with subtitle: and the path of loving-kindness).
chapter 8: no such thing as a true storyin taoism there's a famous saying that goes, "the tao that can be spoken is not the ultimate tao.

God and Suffering
by AK - Jeff ina few weeks back, in the midst of the haiti tragedy, much discussion took place in cyberland about the tolerance [or indeed the insistence on] suffering by a loving god.
the furor over haiti has settled a bit [as unfortunately most tragedy is wont to do far too quickly in the human mind], but this persistent matter continues to chew at my subconscience.
today i came across this:.

I've seen discussions like this go on and on. Bottom line, everyone on this thread is going to get old and die and cease to exist, like it or not. I know it's hard for some to accept, but that's reality.

"Does the Christian God Exist?"
by leavingwt inlast night, author and ex-christian, john w. loftus debated dinesh d'souza on the topic, "does the christian god exist?".
below is loftus' opening statement.. .
in every single case dineshs response will be pretty much the same.

Thanks for posting LeavingWT. Very well written argument IMO.
Trouble is, as a believer in a Christian god, my eyes would have glazed over after the first paragraph. Did you really read the whole thing Snowbird?

Music of 1960's and Early 1970's
by Farkel inthanks shamus.
i forgot i needed to load ie to put up a youtube video.. there was such great music in the 1960's and early 1970's it's hard to remember them all.
here are two great ones from that era.. in my lifetime there has been no period of less than a decade that has produced anywhere near the amount of great music that was produced in those years.. farkel.

Black Oak and Jim Dandy! Classic! I had heard he was David Lee Roth's inspiration, but I had never seen him live. Looks like it could be true.
My offering, great modern version by George himself:
