It's been at lest 25 years since I was the accounts servant, but the posts above describe the situation I experienced. There were maybe 2 or 3 retired guys who worked, in my case, for an airline or a large utility who consistantly made regular contributions via check once a month. But no where near what was needed. Being self employed myself and a person who could not stand red ink, it bothered me every time I collected the money from the box and wondered how in the world we were going to pay the bills with the small bills and change I collected out of the box. We barely scraped by every month.

Ponderings of a Worldly Person
by Nevuela in35-year-old female in california here.
never a jw, but have had bible studies and attended several meetings and even a convention once.
i've always been agnostic with leanings toward the belief in some deity or other, although the more i learned from the jw's, the more i've learned to doubt, not just their teachings, but the fundamental teachings of all religions.

Fukitol asks exactly what I was wondering. If this nice JW lady, and I'm not saying she isn't all you say she is, is living with a worldly person she would be judged by the JW's, it would be an unacceptable situation. If she now claims to be of the anointed, she would fit in with the warnings the JW's have received about those that do this.
This is the reality of the organization as I know it.

Why are the atheists on this site so hateful?
by HopeEverLasting inall us creationists try to do is offer true evidence that the one and only god is out there watching and looking down on us.
we present that certain scientists know the truth about god and that he is everything that we see from trees, life, weather, the air we breath, and even the most simple molecules.
but of course you atheists reject it because it is your nature to not be humble and see god because you want to rule your own life.

My friends and I take week long trips in Baja on our dirt bikes. We ride hard and fast over difficult terrain, and hurting ourselves isn't out of the question. An expert rider in another group doing what we do crashed and died on the first day. After the situation was dealt with, they continued on with the trip as planned, as each of them felt that if they were the one who died, they surely wouldn't want that to ruin the trip for everyone else. I feel that way as well.
I think JW's feel the same way. In the event that I witnessed, I think making people get up and leave would have been more disrespectful than staying. They are a big family after all, and I think leaving would have been akin to seeing your brother have an attack and then getting up and leaving. Even if asked to do so I doubt any of us would. I think I felt like it was supporting the family by being there with them, even by sitting there observing.
I would say that the JW's in the audience felt like the riders felt in Baja. They feel this is an important event and if they were the ones having the attack would probably insist if they could that the show go on for the benefit of their friends.

His daughter did not stay, that was just her initial reaction. She went to be with him as did his other daughter. Having lived through the situation, and having talked to many that witnessed it too, I think all of us thought it was the most practical solution. Of course I was still heavily involved at the time. Even so, if they had tried to tell everyone to leave that would have made more of a mess. Everyone was very respectful, and if it was my dad up there the way it was handled would not have bothered me. It was a very sobering thing to see.

Are hot springs and saunas approved by the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by jwleaks insatan’s snares today.
in the main, satan’s tricks have not changed over the centuries.
in order for christians living in the corrupt city of corinth not to be “overreached by satan,” the apostle paul gave them strong counsel.

A good friend of mine, ex Bethelite, told me about the Bethel sauna which he shared with Freddy Franz more than once, naked. If any of you would like to know what Freddy's penis looked like I'm sure I can get the info.

I was at a CA at an assembly hall in Central CA when an older brother was on stage with others to give his experience. If I remember it was just after lunch. His chest suddenly started heaving, he was in the throes of a heart attack. The talk stopped, and then the speaker asked that some music be started. Everyone sat there watching as he was being worked on, even as the EMT's came onto the stage. After he was taken away, the meeting resumed. An announcement was made at the end that he had passed away. I can still see his daughter stand up and hear her cry out "Daddy!".
I think in this situation it was handled the best way possible.
