howdy, i'm new here.
21 years in & now about 1 year drifted away with no meetings for spiritual food other than the memorial.
so, in my brother's view i am either spiritually dead or the next thing to it.
I don't know anything of his finanancial situation either, but I do know you can get the book directly from him at http://www.commentarypress.com. I wish I had gotten my copy directly from him as I now feel I owe him.
As far as the comment made about everything being backed up, does anyone know of a way to back up the comments made about Mexico and the cultural-religeous organizational status?
i was wondering how long an inactive witness can stop going to meetings before the elders can disfellowship the person?
some are saying that the elders will visit inactive ones in jan,feb,march.
is there a strategy up their sleeve?
I asked my elder father about the jw-media.org statement that a person can leave without being shunned. He told me that's what I have done. Then he told me about the special effort to visit those not coming anymore set for early next year. I told him I felt I had left but I felt that leaving means they no longer have any control over me, and at what point are records of me destroyed so they won't be drug out when the CO comes around. He told me to write a letter stating I no longer wanted to be a part of the organization. I told him if I did that I would be shunned. He agreed. So I told him I wanted to take advantage of the leaving without shunning deal. After going round and round, it's obvious that it's a downright lie (using the same words they use to describe anything an apostate says). There is no way to leave if they want to pursue you.

thought about it for awhile and decided i was going to make myself go this year.

Your forgot me so soon. We emailed back and forth a few times about St. Cloud people we knew. I didn't know you went ot Sartell. When your sister described it I never thought about that school, even though one of my best friends in high school is now the athletic director there.

Just curious, what school did you go to? When I lived there there was Tech and Apollo. I went to Sauk Rapids.

I was flipping channels the other night and I came upon "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", the part where Steve Martin is playing Ruprect the monkey boy. I have to laugh everytime I think about that and also his movie "All of me"
as a youngster raised in the "truth", i had my questions.
but anytime you ask a question that is unanswerable, you are told to just wait on jehovah.
as time passes, i believe that we store up a number of unanswerable questions that forces one to eventually think about everything.
Although I never felt like I fit the mold, I played the game. Got married, started "reaching out", and then I was appointed MS. Having been raised around a father that let "elder secrets" slip out quite a bit, the first CO visit and the servant's meeting was not what I expected, nothing of any value. And then when I went to the special MS school at the assembly hall, I knew it wasn't for me. Just another meeting, nothing new or interesting. A real waste of time I thought. What really got me though was at the end when an extremely zealous appearing MS got up and read a thank you letter to the GB, just packed full of brown nosing BS. I thought, did he write that? If so, when? Who arranged for him to get up and read this letter supposedly written on behalf of everyone there? What kind of a game is this anyway?
So I still played along, struggling to put in 8 hrs/month. Then came the elders visit telling me I was not "visible" enough in the field service. Next thing I know I was taken aside at the meeting and told they were removing me as a MS. I almost passed out. But I decided that I was not going to let them do that to me. I went in front of the whole elder body at the CO visit and told them I didn't understand how I was not "visible" enough with my 8 hours when some other MS who had families got around 10 but they were using a family study to get 4 of those. They let me stay on, but within a few months I quit. I couldn't play that game any more. Just gave me some satisfaction quitting instead of getting fired. After that I could tell they didn't like not having anything to hold over my head.
So I lived with the guilt slipping farther and farther away, and then came the internet and the rest is history. I guess the 607 thing really started me thinking. Thanks to Randy and freeminds for explaining what really happened in 1980. And thanks to Ray for writing his books. So glad to know what I know. Just wish I had found it sooner.

well, i'm a little on the jealous side.. i always here of posters here who seem to personally know each other....of coarse not most.....but many.
just curious who knows who in the flesh?..........well partially covered flesh anyways.. when you meet them for the first time....are they way different than you expected?.
