  i just received an email that said mj attended the memorial in solvang last night.

  he attended with his mom and dad and also his son.

  this info was forwarded to me via 2 others but i saw the original email so i think it's probably true.

  Being that I was only the 3rd person from the original I think there is good reason to believe it happened. Do you think the media is camped out at his front door? I think at this time they are centering their attention on his arrival at the courthouse in Santa Maria. I think it's possible he could have made it to the KH. If it is true, it's too bad the media missed it. I would have like to have seen that hit the national news.

  Excellent posts AA and Pole.

  IMO, the state of the world is better now than it has ever been. The media and the ability to broadcast news instantly have made it seem otherwise. I'm totally with you AA, things make a lot more sense to me if I think there is no god.

  has anyone ever asked someone about way the memorial is still celebrated?

  the belief is it is to be done yearly until he arrives, but he was supposed to arrive in 1914. so if that?s the case, he?s already here.

  why is it still being celebrated?

  Why would a "deluded" man quote David? Psalm 22:1

  I guess I don't understand what difference it would make if he was quoting David, if in fact that was what he was doing. Please explain.

  When Jesus said "My God my God why have you forsaken me?" He finally realized he was not the Messiah, just a deluded human being who was going to die and stay dead.

  I doubt that he said anything more then that one sentence.

  For some time now I have seriously doubted the very existence of Jesus, and at the very most thought he may have existed but only as some charismatic man who had a few people looking up to him, not unlike Jim Jones or David Koresh. Your above statement is something I never thought about, but fits perfectly with the scenario I imagine, a "deluded" man with followers that could not accept the fact their leader was not what he claimed and created a fantasy.

  we all know that the memorial is the single most important day in the jw year.

  but why does it have to be observed on one specific day, nisan 14, and at one specific time, at sundown?

  did jesus ever make a statement saying that these two requirements had to be kept no matter what?

  If these 2 ever come back, I am sure they will put the spin on it mentioned. My response to them is going to be:

  You two obviously had to research the WTS publications for an answer since you had none at first. If you had just read this scripture without someone interpreting it for you, how would you take it? The last statement made in that scripture is "until he returns". If you were told to do something "until he returns", would you expect to have to keep doing it after he returned?

  Then again, I've been through this before. Why bother, let them have their little fantasy life.

  Just got a visit from 2 old friends. We talked about fun things we'd been doing lately and then they told me the reason they stopped by was to invite me to the memorial. I was completely silent and non-committal. But before they left I did ask them what their take was on what it said in 1 Cor. about the Lord's evening meal, in particular the part about doing this "until he arrives".

  One said rather arrogantly that it said just keep doing this "in remembrance of me", but I said it also says "until he arrives". I said since you believe he has already arrived why do you keep up this celebration? They had no answer and were not sure it said that, but they said they would get back to me after some research. I don't really expect that to happen and don't really care, but does anyone know how the dubs answer this? If they do come back maybe I can be ready for them.
