LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER
by You Know inperhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

Why do they return?
by Stealth inthere are some jw's who will leave the watchtower orginization for years and then suddenly show back up at the kh often saying they have regrets of leaving and are often heard to say.. "there is nothing out there.".
as i contemplate my official exit from the borg, this question keeps coming up.... what is it that makes these people return to the borg after leaving for years?.

SYN:
The earlier in the forenoon you take the sun bath, the greater will be the beneficial effect, because you get more of the ultra-violet rays, which are healing. - The Golden Age
Is this really a quote from the Golden Age? If so can you give the date and page number?
Joelbear:
I found your comments interesting. This may be why when they say "there is nothing out there...." it's because they have no emotional support for problems in their life. However in reality could find the same emotional support in many other churches, but will never find out because the are not allowed to by the WTBS.

UN vs Watchtower Society
by joelbear inthe watchtower has pronounced the un as being the disgusting thing because it is trying to bring about world peace instead of putting its faith in jehovah to do that.. the watchtower claims to be jehovah's tool and itself attempts to unite the peoples of the world into a united organization going so far as to monitor and punish the behavior of individuals around the world.. how are the watchtower's actions different from the united nations actions?.

How are the Watchtower's actions different from the United Nations actions?
The UN, when accusations were made against it about the sexually exploitation of children, the UN called for a full investigation before the world press, and publicly stated a zero tollerence policy with regard to this.
The Watchtower.... well... You Know! We must not bring reproach to Jehovah's name. (aka. the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses)

A not necessarily well-prepared student sat in his life science classroom, staring at a question on the final exam paper. The
question directed: "Give four advantages of breast milk."What to write? He sighed, and began to scribble whatever came into his head, hoping for the best:
1. No need to boil......
2. Never goes sour......
3. Available whenever necessary......So far so good - maybe. But the exam demanded a fourth answer. Again, what to write? Once more, he sighed. He frowned. He scowled, and then sighed again. Suddenly, he brightened. He grabbed his pen, and triumphantly, he scribbled his definitive answer:....
4. Available in attractive containers of varying sizes. He received an A.

TR,
I think you may have nailed it. Even though they leave, they still beleive it is the truth in their hearts, so when something bad happens in their life, they come running back to mother.
I wonder if there are any who have learned the truth about the truth ever come back?

The axe falls...
by Abaddon in... hi ho hi ho, it's not off to work we go.... well, i am redundant, or will be as of end april, when the two factories of my company shut-down and approx.
500 people get made redundant.. nil desperandum and all that... i don't see this as a disaster... if it had been announced in a month i would probably have just signed mortgage papers, and that, whilst still not a disaster would be a tad inconvenient!.
gizza job?.

Abaddon,
Sorry, I know that sucks. It happened to me twice, however in both cases I found a better job with better pay. So this could end up being one of the best things that could happen if you keep a positive outlook. Good luck on your new quest!

My ex-wife promptly reported me to the elders when she saw some book markes to some sites about 607 vs 587/586 BC for the destruction of Jeruselem.
Two elders grilled be about it, I simply told them that I was doing research because I wanted to understand the difference between the two dates.
They then asked me the question... "How do you feel about the truth?"
I told them; "I beleive it's the truth"
I didn't even have to lie. I do believe the truth is the truth! Just not their version of what they think is truth. hahahahaha
