  Were you afraid of Armageddon on New Year's Eve 1999?

  obligatory false predictions link.. so were you cowering somewhere with a stash of watchtowers hidden in your bunker on 12/31/1999?.

  were you excited about armageddon coming and wiping all the wicked off the planet?.

  were you arrogantly bragging how much better you and your fellow bros were than the worldlies, who were out celebrating blindly, like those in noah's day?.

  I was more concerned about Y2K then the big A! We knew for a fact that the year 2000 was going to happen.

  I do remember the family watching TV at midnight, I went down to the basement and threw the breaker on the entire house right a midnight as a joke.

  After the breaker went off, I listened..... first child "See I told you something was going to happen". ...... a few minutes later.... "How come the neighbor's lights are still on?"...... then I hear "Where did dad go?" It was a good 5 minutes of fun.

  Edit to add: I was most afraid of Armageddon on September 5 1975 then I was during 1999.

  The True Church Cannot Be Seen

  the true church is one not made by human hands it cannot be seen or touched nor is it made with bricks and mortar.

  it is a living breathing entity made up of believers in messiah.

  all earthly representations of it are counterfeit and a delusion to stop you from entering into the new spiritual covenant started after the destruction of jerusalem and the temple in 70ad.

  Messiah,humble yourself beforehimkeep ,seeking,knocking and asking and he will reveal himself to you in many ways that will astonishand amaze you .In fact he is not far from everyone of us.

  Cool, I just did as you suggested. I asked him humbly to reveal himself to me. I can't wait to be astonished and amazed!

  I will report back here tomorrow on how astonishing and amazing it all was.

  so last night i had a family meeting and told my kids that i was quitting as a jw and then gave my wife my da letter to give to the one elder i like at the hall tonight.

  so this morning i see a text from the co elder the one that met with me and is gunning to get me out and had already tried to get me to a jc meeting this week.

  so the text reads "your wife has informed me of your letter and its sad to hear, would like to meet one last time not as a jc, to be sure this is what you want.".

  Kate,

  I was having a conversation with my wife about what is the most painful experience, for a man to get kicked in the nuts or a woman to give childbirth. I said the former, she said the later.

  After some deep contemplation, I concluded that I was correct because a couple of years after a woman has a child they often say "You know what, I think I would like to have another baby." On the other hand you will never hear a man say "I think i'll have another kick in the nuts."

  My brother died yesterday

  "albert" was 55 years old, and the fifth-born of seven children.

  i am the second oldest and babysat him often while he was growing up --- and while i was still at home.. yesterday, albert was out taking his usual morning stroll around his small town, when he collapsed on the sidewalk.

  the doctors said it was a heart attack.

  Listened in on two Elders talking about my old congregation!

  last night at my brother's house ( he's an elder ) i listened in on a conversation he was having with another elder about my old congregation ( which i haven't attended in 2 years and have been left alone).

  our congregation had at one time 86 members.. they talked about:.

  * how the congregation went from 86 members to 26.

  Number of anointed partakers in new yearbook?

  i haven't seen the 2014 yearbook on the jw site yet.

  i'm looking to see if the number of partakers has increased again (as it has for many years now).

  anyone have a scan of it yet?.

  Now that the partakers are not considered part of the FDS, there is probably not much need to report these numbers going forward.

  What would be the point other than to embarrass the WT more then they already have?

  Ladies, How Big Is Your Diamond Engagement Ring?

  i notice a trend that suggests that many ladies either have a one carat or bigger diamond ring or much smaller if any.. do you have a diamond ring and if you do, what size carat is it?

  First wife's (JW) ring had a 2.25ct round center stone with two gold bands with smaller diamonds flanking it. (Didn't get that in the divorce)

  Second wife has a 1.75ct round center stone on a wide band with smaller diamonds around it.

  I purchased both used for about 75% to 80% off retail. I would never buy diamonds retail. They don't wear out as long as they are not chipped or cracked. Buy a used one that you like and have it remounted on a new ring.

  Personally, I would prefer a smaller stone with better color & sparkel than a larger off color stone.

  Don't understand why anyone would pay for a chocolate or colored diamond, but to each their own.
