  when i got baptized as a jehovah’s witness in the summer of 83, my honeymoon period lasted about two years before i began to wonder if the society and its adherents were all it claimed to be.

  no of the things i encountered for the first few years was really faith shattering, they simply just made me pause and think.

  after a short while, i would file those issues in the back of my brain files and move forward.. .

  My sister was married to an elder in the congregation. After they got divorced she told me that when they had sex he wanted her to pretend as if she were other female members of the congregation and he would call her by these other sisters names during sex. I have no reason to doubt her story as he moved across country shortly after the divorce.

  The one oclock meeting

  i go to a hall (very rarely) with a single cong of about 60 people in a small city of maybe 10000. our board of elders is a bunch of childless weirdos or at least the ones that make an effort.. they recently changed the sunday meeting time from 10/12 to 1/ 3. a number of us are pissed off.

  its makes to hard to drive to the city or go to a football game.. i just know the gestopo elders behind the change.

  if your life isnt as miserable or pointless as theirs, they arent doing their job.

  We had 3 congregations in a single call and rotated Sunday times every year. I hated the afternoon time slots. It screws up your entire Sunday for doing much of anything else.

  If attendance drops they will realize it was a mistake and move it back, so just don't go.

  has anyone found any religion that makes more sense than the watchtower organization?

  obviously catholics make even less sense than them so don't say that.... the reason i ask is because i still believe the bible is the word of god, but just that the jw's have twisted it for their own benefit, as most religions seem to do....

  HELP needed from folks in UK, esp. in Scotland!

  tl;dr: if you live either in scotland or in other parts of uk and you don't mind traveling, you might be able to help a fellow ex-jw by being present during a courtcase where she alone has to face more than two dozens of jws who have ruined their business.

  I just stayed at a 100 room hotel this weekend and the entire place was being run by FOUR employees. She needs 24 employees to support a couple rooms??

  Hire new employees and move on!
