  did anyone else notice barry bonds of the san francisco giants thanking god after he hit home run number 67?.

  could god have been to preoccupied with bonds breaking mark mcguires home run record to answer the prayers of thousands who perished in the wtc?

  Does anyone here believe the Bible?

  ive noticed many posts relating to evolution and i'm just wondering does anyone frequenting this board believe in the bible?

  it seems that just because most have bad experiences with the wt that everyone here is an atheist.

  i myself was something at least of an agnostic for quite some time after breaking free of the borg, but now i see things in a different light.

  Being raised by JW parents from a very young age, it was pounded into my head that there is no coming to God except through the WTBTS of NY.

  I for one was indoctrinated with such thinking. I think for some who leave the WT when they came to the knowledge that the WT is just another man made religion, this whole belief system in God comes crashing down with it. That is because the WTS = God in the JW belief system.

  It is this same belief system that causes many JW to say: "Where else can we go?"

  Can this kind of indoctrination cause more Ex-JWs to lean more toward becoming an atheist?

  For me personally, I don't consider myself an atheist; however I no longer believe the Bible is not completely inspired of God alone. I think he might have had quite a bit of help from imperfect men.

  This change in my view of the bible came primarily after reading the book "The Bible Unearthed" by Israel Finkelstein and Neil Asher Silberman. This book addresses this subject on the reliability of the Hebrew Scriptures in light of recent dramatic discoveries of biblical archaeology. If you have any interest in how archaeology proves many of the events recorded in the Hebrew Scriptures just did not happen, I recommend checking this book out.

  So I no longer believe the bible to be 100% inspired of God, does that require that I can't believe in God? I guess time will tell as I continue on my journey.

  Did Simon do a survey on this subject some time back?

  Why JWs and ex JWs Return to Watchtower 3

  this post is an attempt to explain the paradoxical return of ex-jws back to the watchtower.

  my premise is that a persons unconscious mind has a positive intent in leading them back to the former environment and the intent is of intrinsic value within individuals.. developmental psychology tells us there are six primary developmental stages in a persons life.

  if a person experiences developmental gaps or underdevelopment of a stage all the others that follow will not develop properly and these will be affected.

  Thank you for this post Victor. This has been something that I have been thinking about lately, I can see how this has taken place in my life and that of my siblings. You said:

  My question is am I screwed at the age of 35? Is there any way to work through these stages later in life? I have only been out of the WT world for a few months and am having trouble making the transition to the real world.

  If anyone has any tips that can help with making this transition, I feel it might be less probable that I would return to the WT. The DB helps somewhat, but I can't spend my life in front of a computer.

  what to do if you happen upon a peace rally by stupid naive hemp-shirt-wearing college idiots, to teach them why force is sometimes needed: .

  1) approach dumb rich ignorant student talking about "peace" and saying there should be, "no retaliation.

  2) engage in brief conversation, ask if military force is appropriate.

  If every person in the USA were a Jehovah's Witness, there would be no Jehovah's witnesses or WTBTS! The country would be over run by those like the Talaban or Sadam who would never allow the WTBTS to exist.

  Since the WTBTS does not feel it right to fight for such freedoms that allows for their very existence, they should pack up their crap and move to Iraq!

  well, i just received a letter from my mom and i dont know how to describe my feelings at this time.

  i thought id share parts of it with you and see what yall think.

  i will delete names and add my own words in parenthesis to describe whom shes talking about.. after a few lines of small talk she says this..........i do want to tell you, since (you and your husband) have rejected the truth, i am so glad (your son) is not old enough to join or be drafted into the military.

  Thanks for sharing Ranchette.

  It is letters like these that can help us all see the MO of many JW mothers. This sounds exactly like a letter that my mother would have written to me. My mother could have made a fortune from writing a book on how to emotionaly black mail your children.

  Since the WT removes any possiblity of a parent to defend their faith with the sword of the word because they are not allowed to talk to even their children about spiritual matters. They then have to resort to this type of emotional crap to try and get you back.

  When I left the org for a few years at age 18, I thought that I was going to put my mother in her grave. She was quite effective at this kind of stuff. And she would still be doing it today if she had not died. As much as I loved her, I can't say I miss for one moment not having to talk with her, because she would always pull the same guilt and fear crap. And if your mother is anything like mine was, you could get 12 people in a room to confront her on her manipulation tactics and she would never admit or see it.

  I agree with Moxy: assure her of your unconditional love. knowing that she also is being spiritualy held captive by the WT org.

  let make beleive that this post is headed by elders from you know congregation, and they have heard rumors about you know apostasy, but before they can get a committee together the need solid facts that you know is truly an apostate.. the poster can play either the part of elders who are investigating, or that of a loyal jws bringing facts to the elders attention about this matter.. i think this could be fun, or i maybe totally wrong and nobody wants to play this game.. we might even get enough facts together to form a committee and disfellowship him (in our game).

  The Wachtower Society MUST NOT Exalt Itself

  read 1 corinthians 1:5-11. therein you will see that christ is the true foundation for the christian, and that paul/apollos (perhaps we could substitute the watchtower society here) are only those who have introduced us to that foundation.

  once that foundation is laid the mature christian should not be relying on the teachings of those men for direction but should be building on the foundation by relying on jehovah's direction.

  There is one major fulfillment of bible prophecy that Fed Franz didn't get the light on. :)
