The kebab shop's an obvious giveaway. It's somewhere in the UK. As to where, well, I've never been, so I can't hazard a guess.
Probably a cathedral town, since you think that's a clue. My guess, at this stage, off the top of my head,and not doing any googling, would be York.

each time i go to the mcdonalds near by, i see jehovah witnesses there.
either for their morning break in the field service, or just an afternoon coffee, or an evening lunch i'll meet one or a few there.. last night i went to the drive through at mcdonalds, and noticed that the car in front of me looked familiar....and finally i saw that it was a brother.. i'm pretty sure you'll find mcdonald restaurants in the new system .
Maybe that accounts for the rumor I heard that Ronald McDonald is a secret member of the gb.

well, i broke it to my super devout parents that after this i don't believe there is any reason why i should trust any 'brother' i don't know around my kids.. no way, no how!.
they had to admit this was pretty shocking and enlightening but they still ended up making excuses.
the society will soon have to drop the 'we are better than everyone else' argument for sure.
No they won't, they will just say he was never a 'real' jw anyway.
But he was still treated as one, by them, with all the rights and privileges that go with that acceptance, including the door to door work - what a dumb argument!

just heard from a friend whose husband is an elder that a letter was read to the congregation from wbts stating that effective immediately "no religious instruction by jws in schools" or words to that effect.
here in australia they are called "scripture classes" and most schools conduct these as part of the school curriculum.
usually a member of the cong is assigned to conduct the lesson with jw kids in local school.
This creates an interesting problem for the Dub kids. My wife (a scripture teacher herself) just informed me that at the school where she teaches, at least, there is no atheist class - the non-religious kids have to sit quietly in the class where scripture is being taught and read a book, or whatever. But she says that those kids usually see that what the other kids are doing is kinda fun, and they generally join in. It'll be interesting to see how the Dub kids fare under this system, won't it?

Can't help but wonder if there is some legal reason behind this or the WBTS moving to protect itself.
Quality control, perhaps? Scripture teachers are almost always women, these days, and I imagine that would be the case among Dubs - possibly some pioneer taking the time. Maybe this is a way of further reducing what little authority women wield in the org?

JW kids will now have to attend non-scripture classes for atheists. ha
Usually the non-religious classes, IIRC, entail the kids watching the latest Pixar flick on DVD. I wonder if the Dubs are even comfortable with that?

why aren't witnesses vegetarians?
it's well known that adam and eve were vegetarian.
there was only ever a concession given by god to allow meat eating after the flood as there was no vegetation so it was forced and rather a temporary fix up rather than a new permanent diet.
