  Any more info on Nicholas Kip? (Witness apologist)

  remember he was the witness who wrote a life story for the awake!

  magazine where it explains that he taught greek and he was impressed by the new world translation and that is why he became a witness.

  ("how knowing greek led me to know god") well, like lots of apostates i have always found his story interesting because of course there are many problems with the translation of the greek that you might expect someone knowledgeable in the language to spot.

  ok growing up jw, i was clueless about how 'the world' worked.

  i had some weird ideas that took a long time to dispell.

  one that i got fairly quickly, and embarassingly was when at school, after easter vacation (still was that, then!

  i hope i got youre attention, i just got my copy saturday of the new book by richard dawkins called the god delusion read about a third of the way through it last night.

  i love the part found on page 52 about a tea pot.

  this is not an exact quotations but i will paraphrase it.

  'street-witnessing' encounter today

  been in this town for over a year but the preaching effort was weak enough that today was the first time that some jw tries to 'witness' to me.

  (maybe because i'd never been up on saturday morning lol) one middle-aged man, on his own (twould be funny if he was the only one out that morning).

  he offers me the watchtower, and starts coming out with his trite 'real meaning of xmas' lines.

  ive just collected my 6 year old son from school.

  he sat in the back of the car and told me about a little girl from the year above him who has to leave her classroom and sit in his due to christmassy things going on.

  my youngster remarked "she doesnt believe in christmas.

  Do Jehovah's Witnesses crave an 'Amish Paradise'?

  from as long as i remember the watchtower society has painted an idyllic rural scene for their future existence on the planet earth, free from the non jehovah servers that live now.. my mother regularly talks about her 'little donkey and cart' that she's going to own in the 'new system of things'.. so do the jehovah's witnesses dream of living in an 'amish paradise' minus the amish, of course?.

  do they have any idea what kind of nightmare existence that entails, especially adding on top of that five meetings a week, continuing fs, studying etc?.

  The men are always doing "barn-raisings" - building wooden houses (and Kingdom Halls!) - in those pics of paradise. Who operates the sawmills that make those fresh timber planks? And do they have any idea how hard it is to make the panes of glass that all those houses (Halls) seem to sport?
