  JWs on the Job Market - let them stay unemployed!

  there has been some protests to my former postings on this subject, and the protests goes on "freedom of religion".

  the fact that someone do get a job because his emplyer expects his employee to actually do the job, doesn't seem to worry much.. how come the jws are unreliable?

  why can't anyone trust them?

  So far Kent's come up with not just one but three instances of JW arseholes making life difficult for employers, in fairly rapid succession. I must say the one Dub who's done a job for me was exemplary. But I've got plenty of testimony from friends who've had Dub contractors do less than perfect jobs for them to realise that Dubs don't make good employees, even on a short-term contract basis. (I'd still engage the first Dub I mentioned for what he's good at - he is a notable exception in a sea of mediocrity).

  i once met a man who claimed that he had invented everything, including the hovermower, the hovercraft and the xylophone.

  he said he created the hovermower out of dustbin lids attached to an old lawnmower.

  Organization's Calender Pic for July/August

  yesterday i noticed, at the home of my leaving-but-not-quite-left parents-in-law, the photo montage for july/august on the organization's calender.

  on the top of the page is a photograph of a bunch of jw children at a convention in 1941, holding up a copies of the book children, which had been distributed just to them.. here are two quotes from that book, some of which was written in a hokey first person dub-voice:.

  should men and women, both of whom are jonadabs or 'other sheep' of the lord, now marry before armageddon and bring forth children?

  Fred's following that advice to the letter in not having any children. Thankfully Jehovah himself helped Fred out by making him so obnoxious and ugly that no woman will come within conception distance of Fred! LOL

  interesting comment made in the chat room yesterday.... it was noted that during a talk by a bethelite at a recent dc he made the following point - the reason we are not on the other side of armageddon is that we (jws) do not and have not listened to authority.. now it has to wait like the disobedient israelites had to.. until the next generation.

  now, i would presume this is some more of this 'new light' because i'd never heard this thought before... has anyone else heard it?.

  can anyone elaborate further.... i wasn't there myself.... interesting implications though, the disobedient israelite generation did not get into the promised land did they?

  JWs "Significant Re-Adjustment" What ...

  bibleexaminer has started a thread in the bible research section that deals with a "re-adjustment" in watchtower interpretation.

  since this re-adjustment is a completely different explanation of the scripture concerning the "disgusting thing standing in a holy place..." the term re-adjustment is deceitful - like calling a 44 magnum bullet through the guts a flesh wound.

  this is another jw dodge as it attempts to adjust its teachings to something more serviceable in a changing world.. this "re-adjustment" is of course only one of the very many instances of doctrinal flip-flops, theological u-turns, and gravity-defying examples of basic jw instability.

  We'll know if this is an ongoing change if the next logical step is followed, and they start applying the same methodology to the interpretation to Daniel and place the fulfillment of it in the centuries after Daniel wrote it - same with Revelation and the other prophetic passages in the Gospels. If so, you may see the propensity to try and set dates according to perceived "signs" disappear- if they're all fulfilled, then there are no signs to set dates on. Perhaps the whole Millennium doctrine may fall by the wayside and become more of a "Postmillennial" or "Amillennial" position.

  My money, however, is on this being a strategic backdown - for some reason they want to play dice with the Devil (the UN) and don't want anything which may come out and embarrass them. Of course, if "the superior authorities" become less Satan inspired, dropping doctrines like blood and shunning to appease them won't seem like a compromise -perhaps that's it...

  Never Hire A Jehovah's Witness!

  if you are an employer, never hire a jehovah's witness.

  the reason for this is simple: that mistake may cost you a lot of money!

  you can bot expect a jehovah's witness to do what they are told to do, but you can expect them to do the oposite!

  Good, Alan, you cleared up something that I didn't know, being in Oz: what is a Chi-Chi's restaurant and how important is the birthday thing (McDonald's after all have a party room for childrens [usually] birthday parties)? If she knew about Chi-Chi's and how central the birthday celebrations are to the place and wasn't willing to follow employee procedures concerning birthdays, then she was accepting the job under false pretenses. Perhaps the employer should counter sue.

  when i was first having doubts about the organization, i stumbled across the following site.... .

  The Watchtower itself admits that the pronunciation "Jehovah" is possibly wrong and then dismissively says that it's better to go with the familiar than the correct!:

  Nevertheless, many prefer the pronunciation Jehovah. Why? Because it has a currency and familiarity that Yahweh does not have. Would it not, though, be better to use the form that might be closer to the original pronunciation? Not really, for that is not the custom with Bible names.

  Although Seeker made a point about being made to do something you don't want to do, I agree with Kent on this one. If a strip bar had hired Ms Miller, it's probable that patrons patronising that place might want to see her bereft of clothing. If a restaurant which hosts birthday celebrations hires her, they might expect her to cater to the customer's desires and make the customer's birthday celebration as happy as possible. Should a Jewish waitress refuse to take your order for bacon and eggs or prawns? If the birthday thing is so important, the time for questions is before being hired - eg "I note you have people come in for birthday celebrations - would I have to be involved?"

  You can bet that restaurant owner now doesn't hire any Dubs and makes sure of that. If I were he, I'd find more subtle ways of determing Dubbism than outright questions regarding birthday parties (that'd be too obvious to a Dub who knew about the case) - eg. asking for an opinion on serving up meat rare and whether or not they'd want time off to vote on election days.
