Did you believe that the "Pope" was infalliable when you were Catholic?
by booker-t inmy roman catholic aunt has been a "devout" catholic for over 30 years and when the pope recently became ill she told me that god would not allow the pope to die but would take him directly to heaven because the pope is sinless.
i am not familar with catholic doctrines so i was caught off guard with my aunt but for any posters out there that were devout catholics like my aunt do catholics really believe that the pope is without sin and cannot die?

Is Valentine's Day Overrated?
by Swan inmy husband says it isn't a real holiday.
he says when he was young it was about trading valentines (cards); not about gifts.
halloween is a major holiday, but not a day off.

Do you feel that "all" Christian denomnations should be "abolished"?
by booker-t ini ask this question because my "atheist" friend the other day told me that he is much mentally free now since he left christianity.
he told me that "all" christians that he comes into contact with or knows from his religious lifetime are "miserable" and that the govt should abolish all christian groups for the sake of perserving the mental health of the people.
christians never are satisfied with their lives because they are trying to measure up to "jesus" and the apostles and will never measure up which causes many nervous breakdowns among religious people of all christian groups not just jw or mormons but many born-agains have mental breakdown as well.

What would be "wrong"? Well, it might offend some people. Some folks hold their religion above all else, so to insult their religion by saying it's worthless, could be in essence an insult to them as well. Why would people prefer not to say so? Well, it my offend some people.

by swyven ini'm not currently a jehovah's witness, although maybe i am (?).
my father was a devout jehovah's witness, and he intended on indoctrinating me in the faith as i grew up...however, my mother took me away from him when i was 4 years old, and i haven't been able to find him since (i contacted the main hq in new york, but he couldn't be found anywhere).
i have read numerous books and articles which i've got from the watchtower store, and have read this website, www.watchtower.org and been involved in the yahoo!

I like Valentine's Day. I don't care one bit if it's commercialized. Afterall, that's why I celebrate Christmas. I see these days as days to eat, drink, and be merry. Not that I can't do that everyday, but I'd feel guilty if I did. So I use holidays as an excuse to eat too much, spend too much on presents and just have fun.
Side question: Is it inappropriate for a married person to give out Valentines and receive Valentines from someone other than their spouse?

I'm taking a Mythology course this year and my teacher loves him some Joseph Campbell .
Mythology isn't a lie absolutely. Many myths are filled with historical truths. Look at the epic of Gilgamesh, or the Iliad. Both myth involve real people and events w/some supernatural aspects thrown in.

who even gives a shyte about "who marries who"? Ordinary men and women have been sexually and maritally betraying each other for millenia...how does the fact that a man who, by the mere happenstance of birth, is in line for rulership of a country, make any difference?
Other people just love to judge people based on their sex life.. even "ordinary" men and women get judged. I see this situation no differently.
