there seems to be a double standard among ex-jw's who believe and practice christianity.. i have lost 3 subscribers from my youtube channel all because of speaking my mind, it was not invasive or rude, but my last two videos appeared to have offended them.. so what happened?
as an atheist i raised some issues regarding the mind set of christianity that it borrows from jw's, in other words i was showing christian ex-jw's that they are behaving just like jw's.
the double standard is simple to grasp:.

Excellent point. Because having all your family and friends treat you as if did not exist is exactly the same as someone unsubscribing from your YouTube channel.

I remember it well. It was in 1985 and it occurred on a Sunday morning. I was a young pioneer at the time. I was no where near Sydney but we heard about it when we got home from the meeting at lunch time. It was all over the news. I remember being fired up with expectation that the great persecution was beginning. That was the talk anyway. Immediately afterwards, for a couple of years, there was a policy of checking the halls before letting everyone in prior to each meeting.
The hall that was bombed was the Casula Kingdom Hall and the congregation involved was the Lurnea congregation. The hall was used by several congregations if I recall correctly. These are suburbs in western Sydney about 30 km or so south west of the cbd.
A year later I went to bethel. Lurnea had quite a few bethelites assigned to it as it's pretty close to Ingleburn, and so many were there at the time of the blast. I got to know a number of them very well. No one from bethel was killed, but all were injured in some way. Most of the injuries consisted of cuts and abrasions and perforated ear drums and were only relatively minor. But one bethel sister was very badly injured. She had to have her face reconstructed.
As far as I know, no one was ever convicted of the bombing. The talk around bethel at the time was that the police knew who the perpetrator was but were not able to pin it on him. It was widely believed that it was the unbelieving husband of a sister from the congregation.

I was in the Australia Bethel from 1986 to 1989.
just announced as a breaking news here in miami at 6:05pm est monday ... very sad for the family and friends.. it may have been an older sister based on a news report the other day showing a older woman in the intensive care unit with a lot of tubes connected to her and bruises all over her face.. rub a dub.
People die in traffic accidents all the time. Every one of them is sad and a terrible loss to their family and friends.
Unless you personally know the people killed in this accident, why is this particular incident any sadder or more tragic than any of the other thousands killed everyday in road accidents?

I think about this all the time. I so wish I had done it about 15 years earlier. I wish that I could get those years back and have another go at it.... Life I mean. But you only get one crack at it and I gave the best years of mine to that cult. If anyone is thinking about quitting do it now! You'll only have more to regret by delaying.
