  LOL! My boyfriend thinks so! She WILL talk with me about my mother, who is ill. Other than that, she has made it clear that she will not engage in any debates.........I noticed her sensitivity to make that point clear during the conversation, when I was stating my belief/opinion/view of something and she said that she wasn't going to get into it, then, I could tell she felt deflated when I, in return, made it clear that I had no intention in engaging, I was merely making my thoughts known. She has always taken refuge in being a "know it all". It used to piss my ex off to no end........LOL! I look at it as a "mask" for her insecurities. And, I think you are right about thinking about it, because, she then said that my oldest nephew has a web site with pictures on them, altho she did not know the addy to give to me.

  I want to thank all who posted and gave me emotional support and encouragement regarding my sister. Since I began my trek out of the Dubs five years ago, I have been doing alot of thinking about life, and my family and friends and acquaintances. I've gotten very very choosy as to who I consider a close friend and find that I don't need to be liked or loved by everyone anymore. For so many years I tried so hard to fit in to the borganization, and was constantly rebuffed for my efforts. As time and years went by I just grew unhappier and unhappier. Finally, I realized what I needed to do and I did it. I also ended my marriage of twenty years at the same time as I left the borg. During the lead up to separation and divorce, when everyone was in shock and fear I went and spent 3 weeks at my sister's house, and it was then that I began to realize that she and I had very little in common. Our thoughts, feelings and views on life are just soooo different. Not surprisingly, we ended up having a huge row and both of us agreed that we really didn't like the other very much! It doesn't hurt much not to have HER in my life, but my nephews are another story altogether. That hurts. My sister is an intellectualizer. I am a big mushball emotional huggy type. When I first discovered/realized how little I really liked her, I was shocked and embarrassed, and I thought something was wrong with me. But, as I've explored my feelings, I've come to realize that friendship is all about being attracted to people who share like ideas, goals and feelings, and the same type of personality traits. I do have two or three women in my life now who I absolutely feel that type of connection for. But, I do not feel this with my sis. I never did. I just grew up with her in the same house. We never liked the same things and were very different personality wise. Alot of you said the same thing in different ways and have helped me to reaffirm that it is okay to be me, that the me that I am is quite okay and I don't have to beat myself up because of my sister's behavior. Thank you so much for caring, and I do enjoy this board very much. I enjoy the banter and emotional highs and lows that each and every one of you share and I realize that we are all here for each other! I also want to ask if the avatar is offensive, I was just in a silly mood the other day and changed it from my old one. I can remove it and put something else in it's place if consensus is that it is inappropriate................actually it was sent to me by a girlfriend. The writing on it says: "does this thong make my ass look big?" I thought it was hilarious, but some might find it tacky. I am a "fat bottomed girl" myself.

  Hi All!

  I'm going thru an incredible range of emotions since conversing with my fleshly sister yesterday. She's still in. I've posted a few times here, but, haven't yet gained enough "notoriety" to be recognized as part of the group yet. I've been out for about five years, DF'd, but left willingly since I didn't want to be part of that revolting religion any longer. I did 25 years, enough's enough. Anyways, I called my sis, who is a "staunch" witness, to speak to her about my mom's health and a few other "issues" regarding some information I'd heard thru my "worldly" aunt. My mom is a witness also, but walks her own line when she wants to. After I finished the "official" business, I asked how my three beautiful nephews were all doing, and caught up on some of the recent stuff in their lives. Then, greatly daring, I asked my sister if she would send me some photos.................longgggggg silence. Finally, I let her off the hook by saying: "you don't feel comfortable with that". and she said "no". I basically froze over, emotionally, at that point, and ended the conversation. I guess I just needed to vent and share and see what everyone here has to say about it............any comments, experiences or whatever would be great!

  as a long time poster on other message boards.

  i have often noticed, that despite the topic, there are always certain personalities on each.

  i guess it is kind of like the congregation, in that no matter what one you were in, there were characters that matched up with the one you left.

  SpiritWalker, didn't really see myself in any "one" thing......not even the neutral poster. I am definitely NOT here just to keep the peace, because I DO have strong feelings on issues. I support those who need supporting, I share things that may be interesting to others, I share my opinions. I DO NOT cause flame wars, I'm not into causing aggravation, but I'm definitely on the peace side of the equation, nor do I look at myself purely as an intellectual, or a teacher, as I am open to learning. So, what would YOU call me?

  i was looking up sacrilege tonight because of picture that i saw posted and it got me to wondering what i actually considered sacred anymore..if anything...something i am still trying to work out...so i wondered if anyone else had thought about it.

  Stacy, I totally agree with you on the "religion and religious" aversion. That is why I refer to it as "spiritual and spirituality". There is a HUGE difference, IMO.

  Tragic, very tragic indeed that no one in that insane organization have learned their lesson......LOL.....let me correct myself.......those that have learned are now outside enjoying their freedom and shaking their heads in disgust and pity at those still trapped by this awful cult. I still have family in there and maybe someday they will truly see the "light". For now, tho, they've again reinforced their "shunning" tactics and even my mom has cut off communications. My aunt, who is not a JW, told her that if my own mother can't talk to me then who the hell can? Even the supposed "blind, evil, godless world" has more compassion than this organization. I am soooo happy that I have escaped them!

  I hold many things sacred. In fact, I am an intensely spiritual person, more spiritual than I ever was in the Borg. I consider the Earth a Sacred Being, along with all the creatures and plants that inhabit Her. I know there is a Divine Presence in the Universe that I respect. I hold all LIFE sacred. I also have to agree with whoever posted about sushi! Nectar of the GOD/DESSES!!!! And, of course, COFFEE~~~~~~!

  My outlook on life has improved in so many ways it is hard to express to those who have never been in the Borg..........but I'm sure everyone here can definitely relate..........

  It feels like a huge weight has been lifted

  I have my Tuesday and Thursday nights free again!

  I don't have to get up and knock on people's doors on Sat.'s and Sun.'s and ruin their and my day!

  I lost my self righteous judgemental attitude, and have become a loving, compassionate, caring person!

  I can follow politics and get involved in discussions without feeling guilty!

  I can put up a Christmas tree and decorate for Thanksgiving and Halloween, etc.

  I don't have to worry about how my magazines are stacking up and feel guilty that all the Bethelites worked so hard to print them and they are just lying there!

  I'm not depressed all the time!

  I can buy esoteric spiritual books and do research on religion, etc.

  My newest thing: watching horror movies, and reading books, etc. that I used to avoid, like Stephen King and Ann Rice!

  If I want to, I can cut loose and get drunk and enjoy some weed without having to feel like I have to run to the elders or feel like I'm a moral degenerate.

  I can go on and on, but these are some of the little and big ways my life and views have changed, you all can add more, I'm sure!!!!

  Has being a Witness caused clinical Depression with any of you?

  for me i would say that half the reason i am depressed is directly cause from being raised a witness, i am 50 now.

  I think Metatron pretty much covered it very very well!! I would say that is it in a nutshell!

  Yes, I spent most of my life depressed because of the insane teachings and paranoia that everything is bad bad bad, and I also have to say that what Flower wrote about feeling guilty because I didn't want to be one was a major contributor. I have no feelings of guilt for having left, even tho I still have a mom and a sister in. I feel filled with spiritual love and joy these days, knowing that Spirit loves me for just who I am, and I am free of the "Truth".............
