  here is a response i sent to a recently df'd jw over the un issue.

  this person has not been deterred though, they are still clinging to the borganization as god's.

  i have been corresponding somewhat with them, and i just had to reply to the last email i got.. i think this letter may be good for someone just teetering on the edge of jwdom.. http://www.geocities.com/freepeace2000/letter.htm.

  What possible reason could there be for a loving, kind, and just Creator with a proven track record to have to “prove” anything to anyone? After all, Jehovah is the Almighty.

  What “Bigger Picture” could possibly exist that would morally justify the suffering, turmoil, and murder of countless billions of sentient human beings over many thousands of years? What of these poor people’s right to Free Will? What of their right to live their lives free of the threat of suffering and death at the hands of a supernatural being?
  
  Again I ask you, could there be another explanation? It is not my purpose nor intention to answer this question, but rather, to provoke you to thought.

  Can you answer this question? It's a good one. I've always bought the Universal Big Picture argument myself. The father/wayward child illustration was a good one. What OTHER possible explanations are there? Anyone?

  No need to read COC etc to know its bull.

  do you need to read coc or look on the interthingynet to know the "truth" is bull?.

  i think not, but it will make it easier.. having more facts at your fingertips will help you make up your mind about the society , but really from reading the publictions yourself and looking at the congregations at what goes on should tell you its wrong.. i think theres a problem that a lot of people don't meditate enought and don't give themselves a well rounded knowledge of the world in general.. its understandable given that so much time is taken up with other things, many people are too tired to read alot or think deeply.. yet if you don't you are missing out.. you learn so much by reading rather than whatching tv or playing computer games.. reading a wide variety of books and meditating on things can help exercise you mind , helping it sort dodgy ideas from more sound ones.. i think we should learn from our time as witnesses and try to read more, and meditate on things, become a more rounded person.. it would be a shame if we had to rely soley on other people to mold the way we lead our lives.

  I agree -- it is amazing how harping over Pharisaical petty issues is deeply ingrained in our lives and treating others. Like you say -- we need each other -- ironically the wt harps over not forsaking association for its own -- so to break the shackles of the mind control we need to fight fire with fire as it were.

  i think not, but it will make it easier.. having more facts at your fingertips will help you make up your mind about the society , but really from reading the publictions yourself and looking at the congregations at what goes on should tell you its wrong.. i think theres a problem that a lot of people don't meditate enought and don't give themselves a well rounded knowledge of the world in general.. its understandable given that so much time is taken up with other things, many people are too tired to read alot or think deeply.. yet if you don't you are missing out.. you learn so much by reading rather than whatching tv or playing computer games.. reading a wide variety of books and meditating on things can help exercise you mind , helping it sort dodgy ideas from more sound ones.. i think we should learn from our time as witnesses and try to read more, and meditate on things, become a more rounded person.. it would be a shame if we had to rely soley on other people to mold the way we lead our lives.

  yes, thanks, James, and I appreciate what you post even more because of your perspective of an insider smelling all that excrement day in and day out -- I only get the warm fuzzy image all the time reinforced by videos like "The Whole Association Of Brothers" and stuff like that. When I was a kid growing up I went on a Bethel tour but still noticed that a lot of the niceties seemed forced. Insider perspectives since have confirmed alot of my suspicions.

  this has probably been addressed before, but.... the other day a philipino man knocked on our door.

  my husband answered it, and a nice elderly man said something in philipino to us, holding a watchtower and awake.

  my husband said we only spoke english, and the old man smiled, said something and left.

  It's a beautiful Saturday here too (mid-sixties or so) and I'll be damned if I'd spoil that by letting those morons get a foot in MY door to make a shepherding call. Doin' the spring cleanin'!

  Then they changed that and admitted that the WT was just written by men who were chosen by God and so it was not actually inspired by God.

  Here it is again! Doublespeak at its finest. If God chose the men to write something, and they write stuff, it must follow that the men are inspired! Elsewise, the Bible is *NOT* inspired, and it's just written by *imperfect* men.

  as you may or may not know, the bush administration has set up a shadow government in the usa, with its memebers already securely located in underground bunkers and now we are learning that washington dc is being surrounded radiation and gamma ray detectors which would tip off the delta forces on standby that a nuclear weapon had been brought into the area.

  the government concedes that they do expect a possible nuclear strike by terrorists.. while it may not come from ben ladin, there are other countries who appear to have made more progress in securing nuclear weapons by either buying them illegally or making their own.

  the really bad news is that they also have much more of an incentive now to use them against the usa as our government has launched a war against their countries (i.e.
