If Russell Were Alive Today He'd Be DF'd For
by Dutchie ini was just thinking that if charles taze russell were alive today he wouldn't even recognize the religion he started.
in fact, many of the things he did are now disfellowshippable offenses.
for instance, he had a christmas tree in the bethel home and he wore a beard.

My brief WT article with almost all WT buzzwords
by comment infine counsel--how does it benefit us today?.
1. fine, wholesome counsel has a happifying effect.
it educates and benefits the great crowd of overcomers, whose steadfast reliance on jehovah and the spiritual food from his organization truly is a cause for rejoicing.. 2. too, suchlike ones manifest their support for god's arrangement by regularly assembling at christian meetings and submissively acknowledging the headship of spirit-appointed elders.

nod along...or nod off...
It's interesting you mention "Jehovah's Celestial Chariot"...the JWs of all don't realize that God is God! Yes, just like a woman, he has the right to change his mind!
If for one split second in history the JW's were the chosen people, the celestial chariot has circled wagons a million times since then.
Furthermore, it is disrespectful to call The Supreme Sovereign by his first name, anyway. So "God" is plenty good enuf. It's Mr. Haugland, not Jan.
If God sees fit, "Armageddon" becomes a non-event (and the WTS Scadenfreude nullified), IF it's in a higher best-interest. But NO, the WTS INSISTS that their version of events is fait-accompli! Just the fact alone that Jesus came is proof positive of God's ability to change plans on a dime of a chariot wheel. So are many other Bible and/or historical examples.
Think about it. ANYTHING's possible.

"Dealt with it internally?" Yeah, right. Fox, meet henhouse. Enron dealt with it "internally" too. >>>>>>s>>>h>>>red>>>>>>>>>
Gurlie needs to learn that the JWs are the greatest "haterz" of all -- especially the UN and the Catholic Church. Apostates. Unrelenting hate. Jeez.

Dont blame the witnesses, its the Bible...
by sleepy indont blame the witnesses, its the bible's fault.. well you can blame them for trying to stick to the thing, but belief in the bible is the main problem.. i've heard the gb and witnesses be called evil by some, as though they have gone out to hurt people on purpose.. but i doubt that this is true, at least in recent times.. no the problem comes from believing the bible is god's word and trying to interpret it and follow it.. what happens when you do so?.
you get the catholic inquisition, people burnt at the stake, you get jews fighting for a promised land, religious groups who let their children die and a host of other problems.. i ask a question.if you were god and were going to have a book written on how man should live, would you do it in such a way that if misinterpeted or taken too literaly or mistranslated slightly , could result in the death and suffering of thousands of people, and would enslave people to false religious beliefs?.
yes there are good points and principles in the bible, mainly the words of jesus, who didn't write any of it himself.. but a few good principles don,t outweight the bad done in the name of the bible through the past 2000 years.. the society has tried to follow the bible, and take it for real .in doing so they have had to take on beliefs and ideas that can ultimatly cause harm.. it is like me reading a instruction manuel for my car, that is a fake written by a non-expert.if i follow that manuel , although it may not be all wrong, some instuctions could be in error and cause damage to my car and risk injury to other people.. if people then come along after and say "well its not the manuel thats wrong , you've just misunderstood it , look if you do it this way, that way..".

The problem seems to lie at 2Timothy 3:16 with the "all scripture is inspired and beneficial" edict.
The Bible itself, though, is a microcosm and cross-section of the lunch-bucket society we now find ourselves in. In fact, you'll find Paul correcting his own viewpoints from one letter to the next. I'll also grant that it doesn't seek to cover up error and exposes it. With the exception of Jesus direct gospel, much of the Bible deals with how people coped with it and their foibles and tribulations. So by default, not every literal word of the Bible should be followed on it's every word, or one would be following error along with the Bible's human writers.

Yes, consummation AFTER adultery consitutes "forgiveness", according to the WTS interpretation of scripture, notwithstanding the fact that she may be coerced or is in a physically/emotionally violent relationship and/or is staying in for the kids. This has not changed to my knowledge. Even if legal divorce is obtained after this sort of situation, the congregation refuses to recognize it because it's not a "Scriptural" divorce in the eyes of Jehovah God.
That's how my mother got DF'd. and was painful at the time. The mitigating circumstances were considered but judged unscriptural by the judicial committee. However, now I'm glad she got out of this Pharisaical, legalistic religion before she passed on.
She always maintained before she passed on that she was right with God on the whole matter (despite what the WTS said) and I believed her as she took her last breath.

Thank you Cowboy for those lyrics from Alan Jackson's CMA 2001 performance. I've listened again to this song this week; and, through different ways, different times, each of us uniquely remembers this tragedy.

Actually, Guest 77, I said:
As in the rest of the world, the indescribable evil continues; yet courage in the face of that evil stands.
I meant what I said. The evil is everywhere; within and without.

yeah...unreal. The suffering and death transcended religions, national groups, young and old, rich and poor. As in the rest of the world, the indescribable evil continues; yet courage in the face of that evil stands.
