He's informally witnessing, notice his family out for a walk. Remember, informal clothes for JWs is khakis with a polo/button down shirt tucked in pants, anything else is considered "sloppy". "Evil" people in the mags always had jeans and untucked t-shirts.

shock horror! WITNESSING ATTIRE NOW CONDONES OPEN-NECK SHIRTS FOR MALES!
by steve2 ingo to jw.org right now friends and you will see a young male jw witnessing in a rural setting with publication in hand and - take careful note - wearing a crisply-white open-neck shirt.
bring out the carnival, light the lights: the organ ization is kicking itself into an ongoing casualization of its rank and file.. in the 1960s through 1980s i know brothers who dared to attire themselves sans ties who were reprimanded or worse.

im not an elder/former elder, but i do know service hours are the biggest contributor to appointing brothers/giving brothers priveleges. if you do not get 6-8 hours every month, you will be removed from a MS. some more strict congs. may remove you from operating sound system/setting stage up/mics/etc. i was removed from mics due to getting only 1-2 hours a month, and was told this by two elders. so i lost all my "priveleges" due to a number that has no biblical basis, but is used to measure one's spirituality.

As the old NWT was known as Fred Franz's translation ...
by slimboyfat in... will the revised version become associated with the name geoffrey jackson?
no doubt it will be kept a "secret" who did the work on the new version, just as it was a "secret" who translated the original nwt.
nevertheless since fred franz was the only likely candidate who could have attempted a bible translation at bethel in 1950 his name will forever be associated with the translation.

This is what I wonder too, who was on the new committee? The old committee consisted of Nathan H. Knorr, Fredrick W. Franz, Albert D. Schroeder, George Gangas, and Milton Henschel. So the new commitee was Geoffrey Jackson and proboably a dozen other people, and of course its likely none of them have degrees in Greek/Hebrew.

What Did You Do With All Your Watchtower Publications?
by minimus ini needed room when i moved so i sadly threw my entire library away.
i mentioned this to an exjw.
he and his wife took all the hundreds of books, including bound volumes from the 1800s and are now using them for research and proof of watchtower lies.. what did you do with your books?.

My dad just threw out all his bound volumes from the 70s to early 90s because he only uses the CD now. should've burned them. Also, when the month is over, we recycle that month's mags, we don't read them and they would just sit on the counter at the hall for months anyway. even while mentally in, i had no problem with throwing out/recycling publications. its just paper, after all.

"Baldwin, seen in the above mug shot, admitted firing 19 rounds “just behind” the car carrying the three Jehovah’s Witnesses. Baldwin added that he “was just letting them know he had a gun and was trying to get them off his property.
Despite that explanation, Balwdin was arrested for felony aggravated assault and booked into the county jail (from which he was later released after posting $50,000 bond). Cops seized his Springfield XDM handgun and logged the weapon into evidence. Investigators were also able to recover 13 spent shell casings."
He's got a criminal record now over something so stupid. Also, at my pioneer meeting, we were told to immediately call the police if we were ever threatened, especially with a firearm, because its not just the safety of JWs but the safety of the community, door-to-door salesmen, other door-to-door groups, etc.

warwick experience, sounds like propaganda?
by fadethisbitch inrecieved this email a few days ago, it reads like a typical jw chain email that gets forwarded around.
but it almost sounds like something the writing dept would start circulating as fiction propaganda...... .
subject: warwick experience.

Do people actually read these? That's a lot of text to read that just says "omg jehovah saves"! Even my devout mom never read these JW chain e-mails.

At an assembly hall in Canada. The letter to Canada said ALL congregations will be listening/watching the program, though it seems like it has to be done at an assembly hall, with some watching at 9:45am and others at 3:45pm if there's lots of people invited. Tests have already been done at the assembly halls to check sound and video quality. I guess a video file is uploaded to jw.org that is then downloaded at the local assembly hall? Otherwise, how else do they get the video feed?

Comments you hear at the July 15th WT Study
by LostGeneration inif you still go to the meetings, i'd love to hear how tomorrow's wts goes down.. i'm sure there will be plenty of comments read straight from the paragraph, a few pauses where nobody wants to comment for fear of not getting it right, and a few completely wrong comments from publishers talking out of their a$$e$ trying to look smart.

How do people remember any at all? I was so bored at this meeting i forgot all comments. We had visitors, and all I thought was what they all think about hearing "THE UN IS GONNA DESTROY ALL RELIGIONS AND THEN GOD SAVES ONLY JEHOVAHS WITNESSES!!!" over 20 times within an hour, i was uncomfortable during the meeting so they must be 10x more uncomfortable. it just sounds ridiculous.

This was just announced in my cong. too, in Canada, we get to watch a feed (live or recorded, depending on what time you're assigned) of the meeting. Anyone outside of North America invited to watch? The letter also stressed "only baptized publishers" can attend, the letter said to read it twice apparently.
AFAIK this has never happend before. Not expecting any "new light" either, just don't see anything changing soon. Maybe they'll stress 2014 is armageddon!!

Security cameras inside & outside the Kingdom Hall ?
by gingerbread ini recently heard from a family member who is still active about the new security system in her kh.. during the installation of the digital projector on the auditorium's ceiling, she said that the brothers who came to install it (i'm assuming some from the regional bldg group) also installed security cameras.. she specifically mentions a computer screen at the sound box that shows live feeds of - the parking lot, the carport/drop-off, interior view of the entrance, the lobby and magazine counter & the 'little room' ( the 'elders room' with conference table, computer and printers, filing cabinets, library, etc).. has anyone seen or heard of these being installed in a local hall ?.
comments?.

I've never heard of cameras inside a hall, which I admit is strange and a waste of money, but a lot of halls I've visited have a single camera just outside the main entrance, especially if the hall is located in a middle to high income area, and I would assume if the crime rate is high in the area too. I know of a few halls though that although they have an outside camera, it is not wired and is just for show to (hopefully) prevent vandalism.
