I always liked "Heard of any JW pedophiles?" Most won't and may wonder if some exist and thus search the Web themselves. Alternatively, "Heard of any JW pedophiles? That's because the Society covers them up!"

Information Signs For Kingdom Halls, Bethel, and Assemblies: "Type In Google-> Child Molestation Jehovah Witnesses"
by frankiespeakin inhttp://www.google.com/#bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&fp=87586161f4bd1a9b&q=child+molestation+jehovah+witness.
52,800 hits speaks for itself.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/jehovah's_witnesses'_handling_of_child_sex_abuse.
according to witness spokesman j. r. brown, jehovah's witnesses are not required to report crimes to elders before calling civil authorities.

Beards....Do What Your Told! The WT Owns You, You Disobedient, Spiritually Immature, Publisher!
by allyouneedislove inwas talking to an elder about beards.
he said that at bethel, only black and hispanic brothers can have mustaches (any actual facts supporting this decision?).
he mentioned that we don't want to stumble anyone so that they won't hear our message.

Stupid unwritten law on beards. You are free to grow one, but the second you do, all your "priveleges" will be removed, other witnesses won't talk to you because they think you're "imitating the world" or something, and you'll be marked, even though there is no Biblically-based command that a man should not have a beard. Some congregations even disapprove of long hair and sideburns, because obviously at Matt 28:21 Jesus condemned any facial hair other than mustaches.

Why JW's take on education is truly disingenuous
by Black Man inwe've all waxed poetic about the jw views on higher education and how they truly stifled people trying to pursue an education.
but what did they offer as an alternative??!!.
at least mormons (who's theology is as equally fucked up as jws) had an accredited school in brigham young university that their people could aspire to attend.

This is one of the biggest issues I have as well, is how the WT hates, hates, HATES anybody who goes on to college/uni, yet so many in Bethel have a post-secondary education. Also, you're expected to be a window washer, cleaner, fast food worker, or labourer if you pioneer, which makes up 95% of all occupations of the pioneers I've met. Or your parents will help support you while you do whatever job.
I wasted 4 years pioneering, and just started college at 22 when I should have already graduated.
Also wtf is with the interviews on stage when people say "i had scholarships offered to me but turned them down for jah"? In my experience you don't get offered scholarships, you have to apply for them.
Tell a witness you're just working full-time/part-time, or you're a NEET, and nobody cares. Say you're a college student, and you're avoided and labelled a "bad associate".

How many JWs are genuinely in "good standing"?
by slimboyfat inan interesting question arose from my earlier thread:.
we all know that many jws do stuff that would get them disfellowshipped, but never get caught.
but how many jws do you think there really are who have never kept any disfellowshipping "offense" secret?

"in good standing", from what I've seen, just means "puts in 8+ hours of service a month". so not many IMO.

Wow nice job, notgoinback! I'm pretty sure i remember seeing these lying around the library in bethel but never had the time to look through it.
any chance you can upload the "Dwelling Together in Unity (2005)" book? i meant to scan it when i was in too, but didnt have a scanner. the older versions are available on the net, but i cant find the 2005 version.
actually, now that i opened the file, i seem to recall reading it but the small font size and the crapload of text made me lose interest.
here's a doozy (p.18):
"15. On completing the assignment the speaker will fill out the form (S-37) and turn it in. The branch will pay only the round-trip fare of the speaker on these appointments. Often the congregations reimburse the speaker for his carfare or are pleased to help with the cost of transportation. If the speaker is married and his wife travels with him, she must pay her own fare as it is not covered by the branch. If a brother uses his own automobile for transportation, then he may be reimbursed at the same amount per mile or kilometer for gasoline as is given for circuit overseers in your country. (See 4:74) If the congregation does not supply meals, the speaker may be reimbursed for this expense also."
i felt the difference in age requirements for men and women were unfair (p.21):
"47. Sisters under the age of 30 are allowed to take two Saturdays off during each full calendar month of service. Sisters from the ages of 30 to 40 are granted three Saturdays off. Sisters 40 years of age and older may take all Saturdays off."
p.25:
"Brothers who are 70 years of age and older and sisters 50 and older may return to their rooms before the Bethel workday officially ends, if they feel it necessary. Or they may prefer to take this rest after the noon meal before returning to work..."
always felt this was unfair (p.18):
"One who is a Bethel elder would not usually be removed unless guilty of serious misconduct. Older brothers who are elders may not be able to speak as well and do as much in the field service as some of the younger brothers, but there is no reason to remove them if they do qualify Scripturally and their judgment is good."
i know at least one bethel elder who was so mean to new bethelites, and a very controlling person, but because he was in his 70's/80's and even had a lifestory printed in the mags, nobody wanted to remove his stupid title, so whenever we would complain about him, the overseers would basically just say "we know" and shrug it off. what a "loving" arrangement!

Estimations for WT pay outs
by joe134cd injust wondering if anybody wants to take a stab in the dark or an estimated guess at how much the wt is paying out on sex abuse cases.
this includes legal bills as well.
if you could also state your reasons at how you came to your conclusion.
-
Richard_I
i estimate $100,000 to $500,000 for most, very rarely any over $1 mil, and I doubt any cases are over $3 mil. no real reasons for these guesses, just my personal estimates. we'll likely never know the real amounts.

Video of admitted child molester in Jehovahs Witnesses has gone viral!
by disfellowshipped1 innotice these two attorneys opining on this case.. http://watchtowerleaks.com/tagged/child-molestation.

this isnt' anything new to us, but to the public, this is a great informative video. they mention that the pedo is still a JW, let that sink in... a pedo is still going door-to-door, possibly talking to kids without their parents' knowledge. now, think about all the pedos that are JWs that we don't know about because their actions are not reported to the police, that are freely talking to kids on a daily basis, both within and outside the congregation... sad, sad, sad!

How successful we're quickly builds in your area
by joe134cd ini remember hearing about quickly builds how this was a sign of jehovah's spirit that the kh could be built in 3 days.
but what i am wondering is just how successful we're these builds.
i can think of a couple of halls that were built by the quickly built methods that i would suspect they would of lost money on.
-
Richard_I
afaik quick builds are no longer done in canada, many of the 70's to early 90's quick builds now need large renovations due to poor construction, mainly due to moisture buildup/water leaks. supposedly they used the usa's building code when it should have been different due to the colder climate up here.

Who still goes to meetings and out in field service?
by SloppyJoe injust curious as to who on here still regularly attends meetings and goes out in service?
as i sit at the district convention i can't help but think who else out in the crowd is just like me.
doesn't believe what they hear, but are still here..
-
Richard_I
i do :/ i still live with my parents and if i dont go to meetings/service, im pretty sure i'll get kicked out and i cant afford living on my own just yet... hopefully next year though. only get 1 hour a month and attend about half of the meetings. yeah the elders are on my back but only during the summer when school's out and im just working. the rest of the year i just say i'm tired from work+school and they back off.
i was thinking of the same thing during my convention. how many are just going through the motions because they're trapped in the religion, and are right here with me?
as soon as im done school i'm done with this religion, don't care if my family ostracizes me, i'll finally be free

An official Jw.org YouTube channel.
by His Excellency inan official jw.org youtube channel.

wow... never, ever thought they would make a YouTube channel, it always seemed to "worldly" to me and I assumed apostate videos would likely be in the related videos due to similar key words. plus, there's no way they will allow comments. very strange.
if this gets mentioned in an elder's letter/letter to the cong., that would be big.
