The guy who signed the form, Clayton Hanson, is the teasurer at Canada Bethel, so he knows where all the money is going. I don't think he's part of the branch commitee though.

The End of Circuit Overseers
by scotsman inis indeed apparently nigh as another poster predicted along with the end of the weekly bs.
not sure when this should take place but i'm reliably informed by a family member that one of the uk's overseers was talking about it fairly recently.
reduced to weekend visits by an outside but local elder instead.. i have no further info..

I was thinking about this today for some reason, and I'm gonna make a prediction here: If they do not announce this at this year's district convention (or regional convention or whatever the hell its called now), then they will never change the CO arrangement. I have no idea why they would go back on this though because it would save them some money to keep them in a concentrated area and have regular elders act as a local CO, only they cover their expenses themselves.
The counciling videos that were leaked makes me think they will still go through with this change, and simply train elders every year through elder schools featuring videos of scenarios, but we'll see in a few months time. -

Big WTF when they did the stupid "drama" or whatever they call it about paint ball. They feel the need to have complete control over all JW lives, few years back it was "social media is the devil!! Facebook is the devil!!" now it's out in the open "if you play paintball Satan's training you for warfare and you're the devil!!!" i'm fucking fed up with this bs
couldnt stop shaking my head during it.
for those wondering, its two young brothers talking about paintball, i can't remember if one is inviting the other or if they both were invited by another brother. basically, they came to the conclusion that because you're using guns, its bad. they made a stupid joke about nail guns too (something like "we can use nail guns but not paintball guns") which made the audience roar in laughter

Our Kingdom ministry March 2013 Question
by RobertT18 inis it true that the march ministry is hinting that this year will be the last memorial, someone just said that today in the service, just wanted to confirm.. .
.
edit: forgot to add the month..

For those confused by this thread (like I was), this is from the March KM, its paragraph 4 in the Q&A for the memorial:
Will this Memorial be our last? (1 Cor. 11:26) We do not know. But we do know that once it passes, gone will be a unique opportunity to show gratitude. Will you seize it? May the appreciative words of our mouth and the meditation of our heart bring pleasure to Jehovah, the generous Provider of the ransom. —Ps. 19:14.

Internet at Bethel Monitored?
by jw07 ini was speaking to a group of uber-dubs over the weekend, and one of them was mentioning no-nonse policies at bethel, one of them being the monitoring of website visits.. he was saying that you had to 'freedom' to do certain things, like use the internet, but if you visited "the wrong websites" you would face consequences.
he mentioned the case of a brother who visited the "wrong website" a few days in and was immediately sent home.. can anyone shed ****new light**** on this?
:-).

Yep, there's a filter on all Bethel internet. Porn sites are on the blacklist and all apostate sites, I actually tried visiting this site once and got a warning (and was never questioned about it, all I had to say though was "oops i clicked the wrong link, the URL was too similar to our official website, etc."). Basically you just get a blank page that says "Site forbidden: [reason, e.g. porn, apostate site, etc.]" and have to go back. However, your history is saved on the WT's servers and the Computer Department reviews your history every few months (or weeks). Also, I used torrents and other file sharing sites and never got in trouble.
If you're found to be looking at porn, the Computer Department tells your overseer. You are then summoned to meet with your overseer, who will question you over why you're looking at porn. The branch committee will then decide if you get to stay or not, in 95% of all cases IMO you're kicked out. Old man Max Larson (former printery overseer in the U.S.) supposedly said during a morning worship session that in the U.S., there's at least 2 cases per week of someone at Bethel getting caught trying to or successfuly viewing internet porn (by somehow bypassing the filter), and one time there were 7 cases in a week to deal with or something like that.
So there's lots of horny guys in bethel. Also, the WT's IPs actually say they're registered to the WT, and there was an internal letter about how you should keep that in mind when using the Internet at bethel.

shock horror! WITNESSING ATTIRE NOW CONDONES OPEN-NECK SHIRTS FOR MALES!
by steve2 ingo to jw.org right now friends and you will see a young male jw witnessing in a rural setting with publication in hand and - take careful note - wearing a crisply-white open-neck shirt.
bring out the carnival, light the lights: the organ ization is kicking itself into an ongoing casualization of its rank and file.. in the 1960s through 1980s i know brothers who dared to attire themselves sans ties who were reprimanded or worse.
.

He's informally witnessing, notice his family out for a walk. Remember, informal clothes for JWs is khakis with a polo/button down shirt tucked in pants, anything else is considered "sloppy". "Evil" people in the mags always had jeans and untucked t-shirts.

im not an elder/former elder, but i do know service hours are the biggest contributor to appointing brothers/giving brothers priveleges. if you do not get 6-8 hours every month, you will be removed from a MS. some more strict congs. may remove you from operating sound system/setting stage up/mics/etc. i was removed from mics due to getting only 1-2 hours a month, and was told this by two elders. so i lost all my "priveleges" due to a number that has no biblical basis, but is used to measure one's spirituality.

As the old NWT was known as Fred Franz's translation ...
by slimboyfat in... will the revised version become associated with the name geoffrey jackson?
no doubt it will be kept a "secret" who did the work on the new version, just as it was a "secret" who translated the original nwt.
nevertheless since fred franz was the only likely candidate who could have attempted a bible translation at bethel in 1950 his name will forever be associated with the translation.

This is what I wonder too, who was on the new committee? The old committee consisted of Nathan H. Knorr, Fredrick W. Franz, Albert D. Schroeder, George Gangas, and Milton Henschel. So the new commitee was Geoffrey Jackson and proboably a dozen other people, and of course its likely none of them have degrees in Greek/Hebrew.
