Hmmm....I imagine that they feel that they have just "gotten through" an hour of being asked questions and having to be put on the spot (some conductors will call on ones who don't have their hands raised if they haven't answered before) but the whole idea of being "on" has been turned "off" when that final prayer is said. Having to think all over again and make it sound intelligent and well thought out----may just be too much to face!

I am sure you will have many interesting thoughts to share! And yes, the JWs can be very persuasive when it comes to dispensing/ parroting pre-rehearsed and memorized "bible" knowledge....but then....they are trained to do this. (At least Dave will not be trying to bring you into the WTS!---LOL)

old pink songbook / pamphlet style one

anyone have one of the old pink songbooks?.

or know how much they pop up for on ebay?.

For some reason, I kept the brown hardcovered songbook when I tossed out most all of my WTS litter-ature, and I was quite surprised when somebody on a discussion board mentioned something I never realized before.

The WTS claims to be "Christian" (as in being followers of Christ, right?)....... but this WTS-approved songbook has only seven out of the 225 song titles listed ---that are dedicated to Jesus Christ!

Kinda TELLS ya something, doesn't it?

Interesting announcement made at the Assembly

this goes back a year ago, my mom was trying to get me to go to the district convension b/c there was a major announcement being made.

of course i didn't go (why go back after all these years?).

anyway, she called me when it was over and i asked her what the announcement was.

Same old- same old just to make the JWs think they are being told "sumthin' speshul. And yes, Outlaw, we DID hear that back in the 60'-70's when WE thought WE were beomg told sumthin' SPESHUL back then too!

It worked THEN and it works NOW.....on those blind and gullible enough to put any stock in it.

UPDATE ON DANSK

it's been a long time since i posted here but i often read your messages when ian (dansk) logs on.

as most of you will know, ian will be going back into hospital on monday for an allogeneic stem cell transplant and will be away from the forum for a good few weeks (hopefully he'll be back home within 4-6 weeks).

last time he was in hospital many of you sent messages to his ward and i know they cheered him up immensely.

I think the powers that be are just trying to create a climate of fear and paranoia among rank and file so fewer will look outside the organization for anything

I believe they have already created the climate of fear and paranoia----and are captializing on it with every tactic in them. The have been building on this "lean on the organization/ trust ONLY in the organization" since I can remember.....and I was in it 30 years.
