Married almost 35 years to non-JW, he "studied" but backed out the day he was supposed (literally at the door of the Three Rivers Stadium, Pittsburg in 1973)to get baptized cuz it "really wasn't for him".
Five grown and "away"kids, and now raising an Autistic grandson (13).

Your "little man" is totally adorable! The "Moms" reading this can certainly relate to how you "love him to death!" It's a special deep-down emotion that is hard to put into words, huh?
You are obviously very proud of and devoted to this new little person in your life........and I am so happy for you!
I am also very proud of you, for all that you've been through and for the beautiful young lady you are. You're quite a special gal and have touched our hearts with your inner strength and your courage.

i told this story once before, a long time ago--i think, so long ago that it must have been on h2o instead of here--so here it is again, fwiw.. while i was still studying, at the age of 22, the guy who was studying with me told me something he had seen at a convention once.
he wanted me to realize how close to god the anointed were, what a love of the bible they had.
he told me about hearing one of the governing body members (i can't recall who) giving the keynote address on sunday afternoon of the convention, you know, the big one, that was advertised on the handouts all over the city.
Sometime in the early 80's I was at the convention in Roanoke, VA. Fred Franz was the keynote speaker on Sunday. There was an awful thunderstorm during his talk (I had been unsuccessfully struggling to stay awake ) and the power went out.
Within moments those dim emergency lights kicked on, and gave enough light to see the exit signs and to somewhat navigate the stairways if you were brave------but in no way could you see well enough to read anything.
Franz continued on with his talk barely skipping a beat, and by now was actually shouting because the sound system wasn't working. Afterward, I turned to the Brother and Sister I was sitting with and mentioned how amazed I was that he never once referred to his notes, and seemed to have memorized the entire talk!
The Brother then said that Franz was pretty remarkable, and of course, he had memorized that talk.......and didn't I know he was blind?
Uhhhh.....no, can't say as I'd heard that!
As usual, I was right "on top" of things.....not! <grin>

As to "returning to vomit"...........what made ME sick, was the painful discovery of all the lies and
deception I was "fed", under the guise of "the Truth" .
It will always make me sick, for all that I sacrificed for the Watchtower Society and for all the family I have lost.
Having now "purged" myself of the poison I ingested for 30 years,
I will add my hearty "TO US!" along with the many others.........

has anyone thought of putting leaflets on car windscreens at the district conventions that are coming up?.
all good jws should be at the convention - if they are using public/football ground car parks, then it will be easy to target their vehicles and put a leaflet on them.

To be honest I've always thought of those protesters outside of conventions as sort of whacked. I mean none of them looked very happy and one of them even got in my face and shouted at me. Think he changed my mind?
LB, I always felt the same way. I don't think they have any real impact on the convention-goers other than being irritating.
The last convention I attended in '98, there were several protesters lined up along the street where you had to stop and wait for the light to change. They would rush right up to the JWs and shout different things. One woman did this to me, shouting "The bible says to honor Jesus", and I remember being puzzled and thinking "we do".......I just shrugged it off and figured that they must have thought (as many do) that JWs don't believe in Jesus cuz they don't celebrate Christmas or Easter......

I don't know about other states, but here in NY I was told that it's illegal to put any fliers on the cars! A few weeks ago I was at the checkout counter in Walmart, and a guy came storming into the store. He was yelling about someone putting fliers about a church car-wash fundraiser all over the cars, and how it was against thelaw to do that, and how the manager should do something about it, etc.
He was really steamed! After he stomped back out the door, the cashier was on the loudspeaker notifying the manager, and I asked her if it actually was illegal, and she said "oh, yes!"
I didn't know that........so it would be good to check into it if anyone plans to leave fliers on cars!

I always had trouble remembering the "when to's" and the "when not to's" on this!
A bunch of us were sharing a motel room the night before an assembly, my friend's hubby ( a baptized JW) went to take a shower, and I had said my grandson's bedtime prayer (no headcovering cuz the Brother technically wasn't in the same room.)
Later on, the Brother asked if I wanted him to say the prayer, and when I told him I had already said it....he said I was wrong (no headcovering) cuz he was "still here" (yup-yup-yup-yup-sigh).
Where the hell was my brain for all those years? If there are so many rules and restricions (can you say Pharisees?) just to be able to pray for cryin' out loud........shouldn't some kind of red flag start mentally waving to alert our gray matter that this is nonsense?
