  no, not field service.

  i cant believe all the empty hours i spent knocking on doors, going where i was not welcome, not wanting to be there either, foisting magazines on people, occasionally studying with people in an effort to indoctrinate them.

  The problems with fighting the WTS

  over the years, many well-intentioned posters have been frustrated when they ask fellow apostates (wear the name proudly!

  ) to band together to let the world know how corrupt and destructive the wt cult is.

  i think there are some hard facts about this particular cult that make combatting it so frustrating:.

  I think no.4 is a big one. This is the glue that holds the org together. They try and pretend it is love but really it is the shunning and ostracizing of ex members and anyone who disagrees.

  I would say the majority that leave stay quiet and keep their opinions to themselves to try and avoid this harsh treatment from loved ones. How many do we see here that still go along or try and get a 'clean fade' for this reason?

  No.4 is the WTS trump card and they know it.

  The Bible and Masturbation...4000 years of inspired input and no scriptures about it ?

  my philosophy when i was a teenager :"those who admit to it are stupid ,those who deny it are liars" that was my response to peers who posed such a subject when i was a teen .now, being a mature aged person i think this subject could do with a bit more enlightened content.. i am a male so i can`t speak for the females ,who, i hope will give their input on this topic for discussion.and i mean it as a serious discussion.. males experience erections from the time they are babies and the natural thing to do is to hold it , and before you know it fondling it gives you releif.. society doesnt help by making you feel guilty and like shit as a dirty person.why in the world do babes ,young children ,young boys get erections before they even know what it`s function is for.

  if a god designed sex for procreation then surely this wouldnt become an issue until they reached the age of puberty ,not when a male is still a baby.. and getting back to my op nowhere in the bible does it talk about masturbation which surely has been going on since adam was a boy/man.. i`m sorry, but to deny that you would have to be a complete idiot ,imbecile ,fool ,or just brain dead.. so for 4000 years of inspired scriptures from god ,nothing is said about a condition that effects every man from his birth to his death .. makes you wonder doesn`t it ?.

  Always good to see the watchtower claiming to be bible based and yet it barely quotes a single scripture in full. How do they manage to extract pages and pages of text from just 3-4 words ?

  Yes, but when you are Gods mouthpiece and his sole source of communication on earth you kinda have poetic license to read his mind and put it in print.

  What in God's name did I just read!? Is this from the Young People Ask book or an earlier piss of litteratrash? Those celebrated Warchtower Scholars are a wacky bunch.

  Most here are non JWs or don't believe that JWs are the one true religion. The advice would be to do research on the 'truth', and then marry who you want.

  If you believe that it is the truth, then you should probably marry a fellow JW.

  Josephus and Jesus

  on another thread wot i read a few days ago and can't remember which one, someone asked why josephus never mentions jesus .

  at the time i had no knowledge of this so kept quiet .

  however today while reading an excellent book (don't know if i should advertise but if anyone wants the title let me know ) i have found out that josephus mentions jesus in around about manner.

  So Mary is alive attending meetings pretending to be a JW. Sounds reasonable. Did you immediately recognize her, and there was a beautiful reunion? Or did you get to talking and it was like . . .wait a minute . . . I'm Jesus, your Mary. . . . It's been too looong! Warm embrace . . . . hang on the songs starting, talk more after the meeting.

  When she recognized you did she yell out "Jesus Christ!". That would be awkward, JWs can be a judgmental lot.

  Just sounds like such a good story, I would love a few details.

  If it is any comfort, according to the Watchtower, countless millions of innocent children who have never even heard of Jehovah or the bible, will be slain and left to rot on the surface of the ground so that loyal followers of the Watchtower can then work in teams to dispose of their rotting corpses. Being dissfellowshipped just puts you in with 99.9% of the rest of human kind who will be killed on that glorious day.

  Thankfully much of the Watchtower is pure fiction so we can just take it for what it is, light entertainment. You may as well ask if James Bond or Austin Powers will get a resurrection.

  How to tell family why you are no longer attending meetings?

  so it has been over a month, maybe closer to two that i haven't attended a meeting.

  my stress level has gone way down, and my life is pretty good right now.

  well as you know, there are tons of nosy witnessess.

  "Thank you for your concern Mum, but you know that it is not possible for a Witness to openly discuss such things."

  I have used a similar line with a couple of good friends in the congregation. They knew I had spoken to elders about doubts, and when they ask me what is going on, I just say that I am not in a position to talk about it and have been told to keep it to myself.

  Yes he is Anthony Morris III, this is how it is written when he appears in the society's literature and DVDs. When I was waking up and researching the religion, I could not get over this guy. He is so repulsive to me I cannot express it in words.
