  what is the value of our knowledge?.

  i respect all beliefs for what they are.

  but many of us are being treated condescendingly by those who have more certainty than we atheists do.

  After weeks and even months of researching the WTS and all their failed predictions, deliberate deceptions and so on, I obviously concluded that the WT religion was not the truth.

  I held on to a belief in the bible and Jesus for a brief moment afterward. This belief in Jesus and the bible lasted only weeks not months. For me, it just doesn't make any sense logically or provide any satisfying answers.

  Tec, when you say "listen to Christ", could explain exactly what this means as succinctly as possible?

  For me, and I mean no offense, your constant claims of having heard this and that, and having such and such revealed to you by Jesus, just makes Jesus seem like a dick. What makes you so special to get this attention from the Lord? Why does he choose to communicate so clearly and so directly with you, but others get nothing? Why won't he speak to me?

  I spent my youth and young adulthood trying to please him. Can I not even get a "Hello, how's it going? Jesus loves you better days are just around the corner", or something? Anything??

  I have prayed thousands of times, but I have not heard a peep.

  He has been busted by the elders for frequenting apostate sites and is now trying to demonstrate his repentance by publicly announcing he is returning to Jehovah, because he doesn't want to be shunned by family?...?..

  But that is only your perspective of perspectivists. It doesn't really count for anything. You need to look at it from a different perspective.

  Hell, they even wrote a song about it.

  Just think, once the 1000 year reign of Christ is over and he hands all authority back to Jehovah, the GB and finally kick Jesus to the curb forever! It will be glorious, just the GB and The Big J ruling for eternity.

  New Homo erectus Skull Shakes up Palaeontology

  a fantastic homo erectus skull has been found in georgia - no not our former colony, the one in asia.. it is one of 5 that have been found at a site in dmanisi, it's the first homo erectus to be found outside of africa and it is in excellent condition.

  the fossils are dated at 1.8 million years ago and comparisions of the specimens have thrown doubt over the details of human evolution.. it is possible that species previously named as h rudolfensis , h gautengensis , h ergaster and possibly h habilis were actually all h erectus.

  the natural variation withing the species may be greater than thought previously.. the "lumpers" and the "splitters" are going to have plenty to argue about for years to come.. note to creationists - please read the article carefully.

  So if I stood on the earth, with 4 coins in my pocket and a orange in my hand, I can't presume to know if the orange is in fact sweet, even if I taste it, or even if the earth I am standing on is round or flat.

  The SBF style of questioning everything and it all being about perspective reminds me of The Mighty Boosh episode Jungle. The character Tommy taught Howard Moon to never stop questioning the nature of reality.

  We all dream...... But do we really dream.

  Okay, I think the thread is off topic enough now....... But is it really off topic?

  An honest report of the accomplishments of Jesus since 1914

  not much.. he is directing the watchtower society to print magazines that contain errors.. the goats he separated from the sheep have had to be put back in with the sheep because of policy changes.. stray sheep have been ostracized and turned into lamb stew.. the war to end all wars (wwi) has been followed by wwii, korea, viet nam, and the cold one.

  (no need to mention the war on terror.).

  there have been earthquakes, famine, disease and a lot of marrying and eating at fine restaurants.. 1925 came and went without any ancient worthies moving in to the residence at beth sarim.. the world got so dangerous in 1975 nobody noticed it.. the generation that saw all the signs and wonders had been dropping dead like flies.

  JWs and pessimism

  there are people who are pessimistic, optimistic, cynical or whatever.

  i've noticed that ever since my sister became a jw she's become very pessimistic about life now (present time).

  i love and care about her but her pessimism sometimes brings me down (emotionally).

  For JWs life in "this system" is to be endured, not enjoyed. They are taught to focus on the "real life", which is coming real soon.

  It is a warped and delusional kind of pessimism.
