Food For Thought
by Yondaime inandre gide its is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not.. the words of wisdom from the deceased french author echo through my mind every day, and they make me think, would the people in my congregation give me their unconditional love if i was not doing well in the congregation spiritually?.
spiritually as in giving well in the congregation, making nice comments, doing parts in the service meeting, reading during the book study on stage, working at the literature counter, and recently becoming a servant.. of the 20 or so young ones in the hall only me and 4 others are progressing spiritually.
ive seen the way brothers and sisters have treated those in the hall that arent progressing and dont take the truth seriously.

I found it astonishing how JWs analyze every minute detail of Greek and Hebrew (allegedly) to work out the days we live in and yet don't even know how their god's name is pronounced. It just seems weird to me.

June MacLaine ,s death
by David7676 ini just found out that a good friend of mine has past, after a long sickness.
she had the strength and the moral fibre to call herself a servant of the most high.
don,t look into your own inflictions for it is a path well traveled lited with broken life's but look at the good that you can do right now.

Sorry for your loss. I'd agree we need to see what good we can do today to help even just one person. I believe that if there was a most high they would have been the same, I see no evidence to show me that.

Welcome, it's good to have you here and I wish you all the best in your journey. I'd agree with jwfacts about making sure uni is not blamed for you leaving the organisation. It sounds like your dad is a sensible and logical person. Remember he's in a cult.

Is this the start of a change of policy regarding individual JWs preparing internet pages.
by joe134cd inthis is a quote of a quote taken from anthoney mathenia:.
" for organizations like the watchtower, absolute control of their message is paramount.
it will not even allow its own adherents to spread their good news online.

I predict that this website will be taken down as soon as the CO finds out about it and reports it to his bosses at HQ.
I agree. I made a website many years ago for the congregation I was in at the time and it was pulled after a strongly worded KM about 6 or 7 years ago.

Not on jw.org - comments regarding bad Jehovah's Witness employees
by jwfacts ini used to be very impressed with convention experiences regarding how worldly employers would hire jws because they were known as the most honest workers.
i was too indoctrinated to realise these were selective experiences, and there are plenty of experiences of jws being dishonest in the workforce.
i have received a couple recently by email.. i have cut quite a bit out of the following email i received so that the person and company cannot be indentified, but you will get the message.. .

I once employed a JW, was fine for a while until they wanted to live a double life. When it was found out I told them it didn't bother me as I am in no position to judge, and I didn't care what they did outside of office hours and that it would not affect their employment as far as i was concerned. Trouble was they were hounded by the elders, they had a breakdown and they stopped working costing me several thousands of pounds (no exaggeration!) to rectify the problems they caused by their breakdown due to the harrassment they were getting from the elders.
I was once employed when I was a teenager by a firm owned by JWs, also a disaster, never again will I ask a JW to do anything for me.

Awatcher:
freedom of choice: I CHOOSE to serve Jehovah with Jehovah's Witnesses. That's my CHOICE.
full of fear: of what? I don't fear anything except displeasing Jehovah.
fear of displeasing men: I have a PERSONAL relationship with Jehovah that SUPERSEDES any relationship I have with humans, and if any humans don't like it they can blow it out their ear.
never reaching the standard set: I set my own standards.
...wait for billions to die: we wish everyone would serve Jehovah and live, but most people don't want to serve Jehovah, and so He will take away the life that He gave them.
Point 1, an oxymoron there. What makes you convinced that JWs are serving the Almighty named Jehovah. Additionally by doing so you have many choices in your life taken away from you, they want to control your emotions and behaviour.
Point 2, how would you end up displeasing him? Who's rules and regulations are telling you what he requires. You know you can displease him by playing with a Sparlock toy, or not handing in a genuine report at the end of every month, or drinking the Kool-Aid.
Point 3, ah now I get it, you are serving the god that enjoys cruelty to humans
Point 4, no you do not wish everyone would serve him and live, that would be against the prophecies you believe in, JWs say there will be no mass conversion. What allegedly happened at the time of the flood, or at Sodom and Gomorrah?
Going back to the OP, I see in a roundabout way it has helped me to reason things in a logical way
