Wecome moley, wow, what an intro! I'm so pleased you have had the necessary help you needed, and have met someone who supports you. The scars the WT leaves can often pain us, but I am so pleased they have no hold on you and you are enjoying life.

Being a jw almost killed
by moley inthis is the first time i've commented on this site, but i do enjoy to come here just to help clarify myself in times of need, ie when those wretched teachings resurface.
a bit about myself.. i was born in 1970 into the wonderful happy organisation (lol) and had a unremarkable childhood or so i thought (apart from being abused by an ms), all i can remember is being terrified of dying at armageddon.
attending 5 meetings a week and being used to preach as people wont shout at a child, studying the literature, not being able to watch popular tv shows, no xmas, birthdays the usual shit.. fast forward to age 16 and i fell in love with a worldly girl (the horror) and got her pregnant, my parents were devasted talking all the time how people in the borg would view them, nothing about what i was going thru, 16 and becoming a father, quite a big thing to me.

JW family made contact....
by LouBelle in.....after 8 years of us being disfellowshipped.
the made contact through my aunt who is still 'in' - as in she has faded but is not disfellowshipped and will pop to a meeting now and again - she does this for my grans' sake.. the contact was from my aunt and uncle (he's an elder) these were the 2 witnesses used against me in my judicial case.
they contacted my aunt and said to forward the message onto us.

A JW husband emailing his ex-girlfriend after his wife reveals her apostasy
by JimmyPage ina woman i've known for years recently confided in me.
she told me she found out her jw husband had been secretly e-mailing his jw ex-girlfriend.
he was telling his ex about how difficult it had been for him since his wife was now basically an apostate.

The fact she has spoken to you about it means she has her doubts about him, I do too. Is the ex married too?

At what age can a JW be baptised in the UK?
by jwfacts ini just received an email from an unbaptised publisher that made the following comment;.
in the uk the age of consent by law for a child is 16 and only then can they be baptized of their own free will.
is anyone aware of jws that have been baptised younger than 16 in the uk?.

This dude!
by Theredeemer inso my still in friend started dating a "worldly" girl.
he, mind you, was only still pretending to be in for his parents.
in the meantime, doing whatever he wants on the side.

British zone visit from David Splane - a report from the special meeting in Glasgow
by slimboyfat inwell i went to a "special meeting" in the armadillo today where a 2 & 1/2 hour programme was relayed from london at 1pm.
apparently the letters of invitation only went out a month or so ago and not all congregations were invited.
there were 2,900 of us from around scotland.

Sbf, my wife and one of my children were there, but my wife and I don't really talk so I couldn't tell you how it was for them. I took my other child out to Lanarkshire for the day, we had a great time.

HI! im new here...
by outofthelionsden ini have been reading post on this forum for many months and i wanted to thank you all for all the great posts and comments that have really helped me get through this hard year of fading.
my husband and i where born in jdubs and almost 1 year ago we started to fade , now that we think about it has been a few years that we were suffering from cognitive dissonance without knowing it.
we feel that finally we have our life back , a life that is just starting.

I just can't believe how in the dark they are
by joe134cd inok the term i can best describe myself is a "neutral witness".
im neuteral in the sence that i know there are points that they are clearly wrong on, but just go along with it anyway because it the easier course of action.
i am fully a wear that things aren't the best, but like a bad marriage i just put up with it, do the best i can with the circumstances i find myself in, and hope things will improve, although they know deep down they won't.. anyway that aside.

It's because it is a cult, the issues bring about cognitive dissonance behaviour, it is easier to not think or believe in the truth about 'the truth' (TTATT).
