scum bag elder
by Crazyguy inso last night i had a family meeting and told my kids that i was quitting as a jw and then gave my wife my da letter to give to the one elder i like at the hall tonight.
so this morning i see a text from the co elder the one that met with me and is gunning to get me out and had already tried to get me to a jc meeting this week.
so the text reads "your wife has informed me of your letter and its sad to hear, would like to meet one last time not as a jc, to be sure this is what you want.".

I think my faith might be returning. Feeling very confused.
by jambon1 ini've been out the organisation for around 8 years.
when i first left, im positive that i suffered from some sort of post traumatic stress.
i was very angry at myself for accepting the really bad parts of the religion that i strongly disagreed with.

jgnet: "Reading the Bible Again For the First Time: Taking the Bible Seriously But Not Literally by Marcus J. Borg"
This is a great recommendation, it's a book that can be read in a very short period of time but make a lot of sense

Do you frown upon tattoos?

I like them if they are simple, or a single piece of art, I am not keen to seeing loads where they all merge into one. I have one on my wrist, it has great meaning to me and no-one really notices it, I like it there and look at it regularly and makes me smile. I am in my 40's and only had it done recently.
I've always had a fascination with them, but would not want to cover myself, though I could see how some people would get addicted to getting them.

Welcome, glad you were never hassled by the JWs, and delighted to hear you have a happy family life with your wife and children. Don't worry about your brother, some people are just like that!
I can understand the lack of love aspect, I was apparently the only elder tht did proper shepherding, everyone tells my wife how much they miss me, but no-one ever calls! I left over 2 years ago and apart from a few text messages from 1 older lady have heard nothing.

I Want Your Thoughts On This: A 80 Year Old Man Lost His Wife....
by minimus inand within a month, he has been seeing a 69 year old woman who lived upstairs from him.
.
the wife has been sick for a year and she passed away in october.. now, the 80 year old man is like a teenager with this woman, making out in public places with this woman and introducing her to family and friends as his new girlfriend that he "loves".. the father's family thinks this is weird and are concerned about it.. any thoughts?

It's his business, if both of them are happy I'd be happy for them. I'm sure at their age they know what they are doing.

My brother died yesterday
by satinka in"albert" was 55 years old, and the fifth-born of seven children.
i am the second oldest and babysat him often while he was growing up --- and while i was still at home.. yesterday, albert was out taking his usual morning stroll around his small town, when he collapsed on the sidewalk.
the doctors said it was a heart attack.

It is cognitive dissonance. The mind is a powerful thing and it was under their control and may well still be at certain times. I my experience I know it's BS and therefore reinforce that belief and realise that any 'good bits' about the JWs have simply been rehashed from other religions or simply from humanity. To say they are the true religion and yet a little bit is tainted is unacceptable to me. Of course we know it's more than just a little bit that's wrong!
