For me it was the account of god allowing an innocent baby suffer for days before finally dying in order to punish his father David. No 'loving father' would ever allow a child to suffer even for a minute let alone days.

What was the "logical straw" that broke your camel's back?
by Pacopoolio ini had a bunch of tiny little nags that always bothered me about the bible/god/etc.
that eventually led to me drifting away, but this was my personal, singular issue that no one could address.
i think i mentioned it before here, but, for summation again:.

Not willing to cooperate
by happy@last injust thought i would let you know there appears to still be no change when it comes to assisting the police here in the uk.
i am in the process of pressing charges against my abuser who was and is again a jw.
during my interviews with the police i did not mention jws as it was not relevant to the case, however during one if his interviews he stated that he had been 'punished' by the jws by being disfellowshipped, and now he was a jw again he had 'paid his dues'!.

It appears the police picked up on this and went to the JW elders concerned and the police were told they could not help. The police have noted this in the case. I pointed out to the police I am shunned by these people and they said I am better off that way. As it happens they do not need any other witness statements (police don't work on the 2 witness rule!), but I found it interesting that even in the last few weeks the elders are being advised not to cooperate with police enquiries.

My window cleaner is a JW and as I am always working when he comes to my house I haven't seen him or spoken to him in years. The other day I was in my local town and went into a cafe for some lunch. Who is sitting there but my window cleaner and his wife. They completely shun me, however the next day I get home and find a card through the door saying he has cleaned the windows and can I pay him!!
It'll be the last time he does. How can someone with a conscience shun a person face to face and then the very next day go to their house and ask for money?
I think I know the answer to that one....

Welcome here, it's good to have you with us sharing your experience. Enjoy the journey. It's funny how god didn't reveal things gradually the last time he destroyed wicked people in Noahs time! Then again god doesn't like warning people that much at all looking at history.

I did it !!!!
by snare&racket in7 years ago i started on a path i had long ago given up on as impossible.
i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.
i went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (a levels with distinction) in just 12 months.

I'm not trying to brag, but being an EXJW is awesome!!! Status Update-
by Coffee House Girl inhello jwn!
i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.

Chat with Elder, how would you reply?
by awakening inhad a sit down chat with an elder who is aware of my doubts.
we were on the subject of new light, i was saying that if the org changes a teaching then the old teaching was wrong and cannot qualify as truth at the time it was taught, so where did the falsehood come from?.
his response was the gb is imperfect!!

His point was that Jehovah would have known what was in Judas heart but allowed Jesus to select him, thus proving that Jehovah allows his people to make mistakes but will sort it out in line with his purpose!
So he believes in predestination?!

Judas wasn't put in charge of feeding spiritual food to millions of people would be my tactful reply. I am not aware of Judas having any followers so the argument has no legs

Been through so much!
by MissConfused inits been a while that i came here due to so many ups and downs emotionally.. :(.
crazy that the family is so divided now that we cannot sit and talk (even though we pretend while attending meetings).
all i can think is this line from hotel california - "you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"... love the family so much that dont feel like hurting them.. this is killing me.. regards, miss confused!.

I'm sure there are many families who put on a happy act for the meetings and don't get on outside them. It doesn't make sense to me, I'm the person who points out the elephant in the room, but it doesn't always mean everyone else wants to.
Be true to yourself, and be aware of the consequences.
