Oh, certainly. But I think that if the child understands the context of the story -- his parent is there saying, "See, this is when Solomon tested the women to see which was the mother!" -- then it's not going to be scary. But if the picture is shown out of context, that's all kinds of wrong.

My God, what an over-sensitive lot you are! Where in that account does the child get murdered? And how about you read more of someone's posts before pronouncing them a troll, newbie?

Jesus and the Mosaic Law...
by mP inive had many chats with tec and shes always fun but i must disagree with her angle on jesus and the mosaic law.
she always claims that jesus repealed the law.
ive asked for many times and she has yet to give the exact quote.. perhaps the most damning scripture for tec and friends is mat 5:18 where jesus unequivacably says the laws is perfect and will last forever.

And verse 18 is saying "Heaven and earth will cease to exist before one letter of the Law can pass away without being fulfilled". It's sort of a triple clause so it's a bit confusing, but Jesus is saying that the Law would be totally fulfilled before any of it could "pass away".

I guess I never minded the Bible Stories illustrations as a kid, so I don't see the problem here either. Of course I am wanted in five states for random stabbings and defenestrations, so maybe I'm biased.

I agree that the Lot's wife one is too macabre. The Solomon story, as we all know, does not end with a baby being cut in half. I might be a little concerned if I had a small child and a baby that the small child might try to imitate the story after seeing this, but besides that I don't see why this would be frightening, damaging, or unhealthy for a kid to see.

I don't know, I think you guys are overreacting. The same kids seeing these pictures are watching violent movies with their dad or playing violent games when their parents aren't looking. Or are children not supposed to know that knives exist?

2013 District Convention Program: Gods Word is Truth!
by bats in the belfry in.
unlike god's word, that jws believe to be absolute truth, any one of their directives given at the 2013 district convention could be subject to misinterpretation.. .

It doesn't seem to me that the GB would want to devote a whole talk to the new light -- better to have it brought out for a few minutes as part of another talk, one that is of course given by a CO or DO, then move on.

I am totally confoused who is the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class?
by booker-t ini have been hearing and reading on websites about some "new light" jws are saying concerning the faithful and discreet slave class.
it sounds like the same information they have been saying for years.
i was always taught the faithful and discreet slave class is the annoited governing body members dispensing food at the proper time for the non annoited jws.

Perhaps they popped the cork on this "new light" shortly after it occurred to them and only afterwards did they realize the full ramifications? At the very least, its being a new idea at the time would explain the delay in an attendant "new light" article in the WT.

RELIGULOUS...Please watch it.
by Fed-up ini know it's been commented on before here.
if you haven't seen it (i'm sure it's on netflix) please take a look.
it's the other side of the coin, presented in a funny way that really makes you think about religion and worship.

Actually atheists are in the minority, and religionists perpetually go "out of their way" to mock them.
Hmm, is this alleged mocking taking place anywhere on this forum? I only seem to see atheists mocking the religious, but maybe that's just me.

Why you CAN'T make sense of it.
by baltar447 ingoing through an dealing with a mentally ill spouse (living hell, long story, pm me if you want details), and talking to others who have dealt with the mentally ill, i've come to an epiphany.. you cannot make sense of "crazy".
that's why, when you get out of the wt, get out of the mind control, and try to reason with your loved ones or friends, it will not work.
we are dealing with people under mind control and i believe that is a close cousin of mental illness.

Heh, okay, that's well-said, 00DAD. Maybe my devil's-advocate skills are weak today.
